2006 New Gen Carrera Cab One Owner 911 w/68K miles

Need some advice. one owner car who @ 15K had
  • Engine removed to complete repair
  • Water pump replaced
Re Info from Carfax. Does the waterpump need to have the engine r&r'd to replace it?
Was hoping that the IMS was dealt with at the same time but called the servicing dealer and sealed lips.
Does it speak to "the issue" that the owner went on to drive it another 50K+ without any further issues.
All services listed on Carfax...all at same dealership..without any additional red flags
Thanks

I think the 50K of problem free driving with regular maintenance done at the dealer are all very positive and trump the initial concern. I don't know about the water pump issue and why engine removal may be necessary.. hopefully you are getting a deal due to that anomaly.

The simple answer is no. At least not on 997.2's. Had the pump done on my -09 C4S and it came to around $1,200 with no engine removal. Can't imagine the .1 cars are any different. I would dig deeper into what required the engine to be removed on a low 15K mile car. No service receipts describing what was done?

Called the servicing dealer directly and their 'policy" was not to discuss!
Thinking the 997.1 had a different engine than your 997.2
Thanks for weighing in!

No question about that. The 997.1 and 997.2 engines are different in many ways but I've never heard of the engine having to be removed to replace the water pump on 997.1's. Has to be another reason for the engine removal and just me but if I were the buyer of that car I would want to know what that reason was. Again....no service records from the previous owner?

And the dealer's policy of not discussing what they did to the car sounds odd to me. What would be the reason for not disclosing what work they've done on the car? Especially work that involved removing the engine.
