...of course they can get +39HP (probably a lot more than that!) from an exhaust. In fact a 50BHP gain from JUST full exhaust is not uncommon for Vipers* ...but we're talkin' about a 'lil' 3.8L motor thats already pretty high strung from the factory....I honestly see 20rwhp TOPS from doing the full exhaust to a 997S (mufflers, headers, and high flow cats)

Hint...it has 5 more liters, 4 more cylinders and makes well over 1600RWHP.....yes, it's a street car with all the amenities and a MUCH weaker example of it has already beatin' Alex in a highway roll on...
*flame suit on* ...LOL.

I know exactly which car your talking about. But I think there are a few 8-second street Supras out there that will beat it.
what do the dyno charts look like on the club coupe and the GT3?
the HP is similar, isn't it? around 380 ish for both? it was my understanding that the GT3 builds significantly more torque down low though and will run around 1K rpm higher.
what is the weight differences between the two? guessing the GT3 would be several hundred pounds lighter.

Back to the original deal in this thread, I think my car is a good comparison of what you can do to a 911S. Granted, it isn't running right yet. I'm waiting to see if Evo can/will/wants to help me on that. But when it is running right (only runs rich at idle, which causes constant dying) it runs very strong. Here was my formula:
997S Sport Chrono and lots of creature comforts (which I DO like)+
Evo Supercharger + Fabspeed Headers and Exhaust + H&R Springs + 20s + numerous body kit and carbon stuff that makes it look much better than a GT3 TO ME = daily driver that is all custom and special that has rear seats (for my two dogs), navi, full leather, and looks sinister... and happens to have 500 or so horsepower at the crank. All for about $140k (the wheels were very expensive and my car stickered at $96k).

...further, I owned three supra's myself...anyone SERIOUS about records in a "real" street car has moved on from mkiv supra's to the NEW big dog years ago(Viper). All the previous supra poineers/records holder sold their big singled, and built mkiv's for Gen II Viper platforms...with the possibly expection of a few and thats only becuase they sell supra parts and what would that look like selling their almighty supra's for a FASTER platform.
(bad for business
)...the little 3L that could simply doesn't have enough cubes and beans to make much more than 14XXRWHP in its most extreme ragged edge race set-up....(and thats with ridiculous drivablility/response/lag/etc..) And *NO*...there's no 7-second "street" supra's out there...there's like only ONE or TWO supra's that have managed to hit a high-7 and thats only becuase they're stripped down, ragged out, powerglide two-speed having, 5000 rpms stalled, gutted shells of what once was a supra, ROFL! Furthermore, those cars lost all their streetability drivablilty and would simply look stupid on the street in any sort of *non-staged race* There's are several 7 second TRUE STREET Vipers right now...and at the Viper nationals held in early december their will be several more that have just been completed. These are full interior with all the amenities vehicles that can be driven and raced on the street with great response WITHOUT *needing* NOS just to spool....oh yeah, having 200-to-300 RWHP MORE than the most powerful dyno queen supra with triple the torque doesn't hurt either
...sorry to burst your bubble bro, but when you see a big front mount in front of an 8-liter V10...move out its way becuase it will be passing YOUR car like it's standing still, LOL... (most "average" TT Viper packages coming out of the better shops these days make exactly twice your horsepower now, mind you the viper and supra weight the same with viper having BETTER weight distribution (51rear/49front), much fatter rolling stock (13inch rears), and night and day better "area under the curve" and torque......sorry, you can fool the yuppies on a porsche site...but let's not get out of hand about *yester-years golden child* ...LOL (i.e. supra's)PS: If you would like some direct links of sites and video's of 2000HP Viper GTS's I can post but I think I've jacked this thread more then enough, lol....I'm sorry all. Let's get back to 350 rwhp 911's against 355rwhp 911's lol...
*For the record, getting the 997 GT3 over modding up a 997S is a no brainer*

...and no, a Bugatti Veyron would make your toyota look like a tercel in a race.

Umm... Only thing I see here to talk about is a modded S to a GT3. The rest is silly. As one who faced this myself, I think it's valid enough to stay on topic. I chose to mod an S, greatly in part to timing and that I wanted to start three months ago and seem to be impatient at times. I like my choice though. It's good. I just wander if it's the absolute best choice. Neither suck though. I think the warranty thing is one of the main issues here.
