i had mine right below the rearview mirror using the suction cups. however, since i didn't hardwire mine, i have to drag that cord all the way down to the cig adopter. it was a disaster since the cord kept pulling the unit downward and dropping the unit on the center dash.

Use the suction cup holder. And, I strongly recommend hardwiring it to a switched wire in the cabin light/homelink ceiling console. It's pretty easy to do. Do a search on rennlist. There's a step by step thread describing how to do it...IIRC...I'll take some pics and post them.

I wouldn't mount my Valentine anywhere since I do not buy lower quality products when better ones are available. However, I do mount my Bel on the driver's visor. It is hardwired to center roof light.

Mount it as high as possible, while making sure it still has an unobstructed view to the rear. I have mine mounted high and near the center, just under the passenger visor, hard wired into the roof headliner to come on with the ignition.

Absolutely they work..... One of the best detectors on the market.... the separate front and rear antenna are priceless and the direction arrows have saved my *** at least twice already. I have mine up high as possible on the right side of my mirror. It uses a phone type patch cord with a modular connector, and I connect mine to the outlet down near the passengers feet...

Just saved me a ticket last week out in the middle of the Arizona Dessert. No exaggeration but the cop must have been 4 to 5 miles behind me and it chirped a couple times... so I chilled out and sure enough he was back there.... Not sure the Bell would have done that.

Well worth every penny

Thumbs up V1 Direct Wire

Mine is on the visor and direct wired to the fuse box. This is the top rated model, regardless of what someone posted here. I've owned one for 5 years and it's fantastic especially the arrows, it tells you where the radar is coming from (left/right, front, rear) Try that with the Bell. I had their top model before the V1, it was a POS. You can only buy direct from Valentine either on line or buy calling them. Worth every penny.

Call Valentine Research at 1 800 331 3030 and ask for a returned V1 and you will get 10% off the retail price of $399. It will be the latest version V1.8 POP2 w/ Euro-mode and 3.826 firmware and that comes with all the accessories and a 1 year warranty.
