I have the sport exhaust, the button to control the noise is very handy. I attribute most of the cabin noise to the tires/roads. If the roads you plan on using are somewhat smooth .. you shouldn't have much of a problem. I have just been spoiled by the sound-proof lexus cabin.

rm: i have that exact situation and i will say that you'd be best off diversifying and getting a sedan or a sporty suv as a dd.

the 997 would just get neglected w. the 360 near.

that's my opinion.

JP,
After this morning I would have to agree. I have some architectural and law books that I will be bringing into my office from home. In my trunk (mercedes E50) is (5) Stor-all-boxes and (4) 24 x 36 boards (zoning maps) my computer bag and a carrier that I CAN transport from the house to the office. If I had a 911, It would take me atleast 3 trips or having to deal with my wife telling me " I told you the 911 is too small for your daily needs" I have been checking out the Cayenne with 22's or another mercedes - luxury sport

The 911 would give me back me the ability to goof around on the weekends with the family Wife and 2 small kids which is priceless

I have 10,500 miles on a 997S cabrio since last August. It is eminently suitable as a daily driver under all driving conditions. The only change I would make, if in a more northerly, snowy climate, would be to get a second set of wheels with winter tires. The driveability of the car is absolutely superb. As easy to drive as an economy car.

The only thing I find a problem is that it takes 10 miles minimum to bring the temperatures up and I don't like to run it too many short trips without getting it hot.

Drive mine to work everyday - 15 miles each way. Couldn't imagine driving anything else.

My wife (we don't have and are not planning to have kids) said the exact opposite, "You should dump your Mercedes to get into something smaller. It's too big for me to drive around Boston in that thing."

I alternate between my C2S cab and RX400h but the Lexus is the real daily driver.
