Quick question regarding "Carrera" insignia

I've just checked with the dealer and they say the black insignia is only available as a 996 option in their database.

Is it the exact same thing as the one in a 997?

TIA.

When you order a 997 you have to opt for "delete model designation" - option 498 and then "painted model designation rear lid - option CUC (cost $130). If you weren't able to order this way and are looking to get a black one, I'm sure Eric at Bumper Plugs can do it for you.

I've tried emailing Eric several times but he hasn't replied...

I bought mine used so it came with the silver Carrera insignia.

Very easy to remove - use dental floss (Goretex product), very light heat from a hair dryer and something like GooGone to remove any excess adhesive. Then you could replace with a custom designation from Eric (try calling - he's usually very responsive). There are some posts floating around that show the exact specs for re-mounting the designation so it's in the proper place and centered. I left mine off.

Thanks for the reply.

It's just that I can get one this afternoon at the dealer as opposed to waiting for it to get shipped.

So is it the same thing?

My guess is yes it is the same. Be sure to ask for the mounting template, specs, etc. Let us know how it goes.

I've been thinking about this ghetto idea of placing tapes around the original insignia as a template...

Will post pics once its done.

I don't recall any emails on this....

eric@bumperplugs.com

But yes, we stock it in Black (factory matte black), Silver (satin silver/stunning), or ANY other color you may desire.

OK mogz...your 997 is black so I suggest you putting a red " Carrera " badge which fits awesomely...
Keeps the car more attracting!
