Looking for PSE or exhaust with similar sound

I've got a 997S and am looking for a new exhaust. I test drove a C4S cab with PSE on it and I absolutely loved it as it had a very nice throaty sound and howled past 6k rpms. I had a set of Fabspeed mufflers on a 996 that also sounded nice but had a tendency to resonate slightly at lower rpms. The AWE setup sounds great but I was wondering what other recommendations you guys have. I would get the PSE in a second if it werent for the fact that I would hate to waste 2g's + installation (w/out wiring) and get no power gains (although I realize mufflers provide minimal gains at best).

Why don;t you just get Fabspeed again. Awe would also be a super choice. Look in Excellence Magazine as there are many more muffler company's. Tubi is nice but cost the same as PSE although the Tubi is lighter. I have Fabspeed on myh C2s Cab and notice a slight rez at around 2000rpms but nothing that hurts. With the top down I get no rez. I too was going to do the PSE but for $2400 plus install and the fact it weight a lot more I decided aganst it and went with Fabspeed.

Get the PSE.
I just had it installed and LOVE it .It's worth the extra $$.
Nothing else sounds like it and no one else has the capability to go from loud to quiet at will . That feature alone is worth it .
It cost $2200 installed, with switch .

I could personally care less about the switch as I want it on all the time. Is there a way to order the system w/out the cutout electronics? I know it can be installed w/out them so I'd hate to waste money on something that is going straight to the trash (or ebay for that matter)

The AWE headers, catalytics & mufflers cost $3839 with shipping. Say $500 to have installed. A recent Rennlist thread documented +20 hp at the rear wheels. Sound at low to moderate rpm only slightly louder than stock. Deep growl when you get into the throttle and it screams at high rpm. Overall, it retains the characteristic Porsche exhaust note and does not drone.

DBS996, you will get the electronics with the PSE as this is the only way it comes. PSE sounds nice but is HEAVY...heavier than stock! I went with Fabspeed mufflers since I'd want the PSE on all the time. I suggest the Fabspeed, AWE or the more expensive Tubi mufflers....they are all lighter, simple to put on and all sound great like a Porsche should.

If you decide on the awe system and want to consider a used full set(headers/cats/mufflers) with about 3k miles on it, pm me. I just cancelled my 997S order today, and have this set that I purchased from a fellow 6speedonline member back in May.

if you will keep it on all the time (which I would)

as other members say get the PSE, add weight, get not power gains and pay a fortune.
