997S horn

I used the horn in my 997S for the first time the other day and it didn't sound right. Can you 997 guys check something for me? My 996 had a horn that sounded like dual air trumpets, one high pitch and one low pitch. My 997 sounds like it only has one. It really sounds lame and I don't really want to go down to the dealer and ask them to honk a horn for me on another car.

TIA

I'll check mine tomorrow but I am sure that it sounded like the high/low tone.

I wish that the new ones sounded like the old 80's horns, for some reason I love the way the old Porsche horns sounded. They had a more exotic tone to them like a Ferrari and not so lame.

sure you could - just depends on how creative you want to get...there's plenty of room in front of the rads up front.

More than likely, high/low tone is out. Not a big deal, common on 996's and Cayennes. Not a big deal, dealer should be able to tell exactly which one just by hearing it, I know I can.

The horn is lame - it is non-descript and does not meet the expectations of those of us who have had older Porsches with the two-tone horns. Unfortunately, while many really great horns are available on the market, the entire front bumper assembly must be removed to access the 997 horns, at least according to the Porsche workshop manual. Quite a big job! Maybe that would be a good project for a blustery weekend day.

I don't know... I guess I think it makes it sound more exotic, 'cause I know how those Ferrari horns sound

How about mounting triple trumpets that play " la cuccaracha" on the roof ?
That'll get their attention (and it's real classy too ) Lol
