I was chatting with one of my buddies and whatnot.... He was claiming that his miata will take my 997 s any day... said its got a sc and is pushing 315 hp... I'm yet to see the car in the flesh but 315!?!?!? i thought miatas only made like 140 hp.... He was braggin about his car allll day, to everyone, so i said i'd give it a 'conservative run' sometime......

O i forgot to mention he also said he ran low 11's 1/4 miles...

I'm not worried a bit, i'm just wondering if its even possible to get 315 hp out of a miata..???

 

one thing, it's not a stock miata. any car with enough money u can make it fast. For example i can tell you a lot honda civic that can whop 997s ***, but after all it's still a civic. Also those cars have mod that cost more than the car itself. Dont sweat it, let him have his glory owning his miata.

I dunno, i just thought i would rant because it was like he was singling me out when doing this and its irritatiing. I have respect for all cars, i'm not a ***** and gladly talk to curious onlookers but it really got to me this time...

I realize i have nothing to prove so mabye i shouldn't waste my time, i mean a porsche is a porsche and a miata is still a mazda

 

There are some Miatas that are just plain silly. I'd rock this one - 600+whp!

The guy is either really proud of his Miata or jealous of your 997. Either way - it's all good.

remember the old miata curb weight was 2010lbs, the new one is 2400lbs..
imagine the power to weight ratio at 315HP...hmmmm

 

A bolt on SC makes about 200 hp. to get 315, he'd have to modify the engine internal itself or use Nitro. Sounds like a lot of talk to me. I'd bite and play with him.

 

Why don't you just go race him and let us know how you did.
If you lose, you can always sell your 997 S and buy three Miatas instead.

Or, tell him that you're afraid and he should go find himself a 'vette to race . ( They like to beat things ) Lol

 

it's the older miata so he can probably get 1/2 dozen of them.
i had one for a bit, it was fun. I can't believe i actually bought one.

I think i will play with him a little just for kicks and giggles.... one of my buddies has a new z06 and hes gonna come along as well... regardless of the outcome should be a good time!

As i said before he said hes run low 11's with (corrected) 16 psi through a jackson?? sc ... apparently its a different engine in the car but the car looks stock and still runs the same drivetrain??!?

O well we'll see where this goes!!!

Then again it could be one of those "Monster" Miatas with a V8 stuffed into it that's blown. Before you go "playing with him" you better ask him to pop the hood and make sure you don't get smoked.
