Reset computer after header/ muffler install?

Maybe a rookie question..

But do I need to hard reset the computer after i change headers and mufflers? Or does the ECu automatically correct its self?

I am waiting for my wheels to arrive and install the GIAC Chip at the same time.

Suggestions?

i know with BMW's you can reset the adaptive ECU by doing something fancy with your key like turning it to some combination of key positions. it think it was in the manual.

i wonder if porsches have anything like this?

Here is a question. Does ECU tuning need to be redone if you add headers later. Dealer is doing mufflers,V-flow and ECU at the same time. I was thinking of adding cats, headers later. Will they have to due ECU tuning again for those mods.

I want to reset my ECU .. I have been getting hesitation in first gear and I am pretty sure its due to the ECU 'learning' my driving style.

Is there any fancy key/pedal action or should i just pull out the battery/fuses?

I spoke to soon before searching..

To reset the ECU; disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes.

This cures the throttle lag you develop from your car 'learning' your driving style.

While it may not be necessary to retune, it's generally preferable to tune for the mods you have. You'll extract every last bit of potential performance that way. I had to reflash my Evo 3 or 4 times when I kept adding mods.
