Performance meters

I am interested to get either the G-tech Pro RR or the Escort GT-2 unit for occasional fun use.
I am looking for ease of use and just want to get reasonably good 0-60 ,
1/4 mile timing, HP, RPM etc.

Anyone have experiences with the above or similar units ?

Thanks

Go straight to a Racelogic Drfitbox. Gtech and Escort are all accelerometer based and are prone to inaccurate times.Driftbox is strictly satellite based for speed/time and distance calculations with and update rate of 10 times per sec from 7 satellites.Unless it loses satellite lock, the data is accurate. Check Rennlist .com for this thread "9Eleven's GT2 GPS Performance Data.. ". He borrowed my GPS unit and you can see the type of data it produces. BTW, I have used this at the Drag strip 40 times and compared to the timeslip trap speed from the track it is within .994%. Kevin

Why would it matter? If they are inaccurate then the data is suspect no matter whether it reads above or below actual times. Kevin

I am sure they do. I did not notice you were from the Middle East. Racelogic is the parent co. and they are in the UK... they have a list of worldwide distributors. Kevin

check out auto enginuity software. it's a sensor reader/datalogger software package. it also has performance software as well. it reads off the car's computer for speed measurements, etc so it should be reasonably accurate for $150. it can also read and clear cels.

I have that software as well, and for reading and clearing codes it is money well spent but as a performance measuring tool it is flawed. It reads from the ECU for things like ...Speed. When doing my 60-130 runs with a GPS device, for me to achieve 130 gps was 136 indicated on the speedo.... that would tend to skew the data if the car thinks it is going 136 when in reality it is going 130... just me 2 cents. I went to their website.
Their products are a little confusing. Could you tell me what
specifically I need to look at ?
( hardware and computer software )

Does it require any wiring , or just plug-in ?

thanks.

Its comes with a special connector for the OBD2 port with a USB on the other end. Just hook it up to your laptop. Kevin

I have a Gtech in which was purchased from ebay for 10 bucks.. that POS has brought us alot of fun and is pretty accurate amazingly, I have compared it at the 1/4 track and it was pretty much the same time. I have tries in all sorts of cars and the times we get are pretty close to what they claim in magazines.
