Question Any Rumors of a new 911 with paddle shifters?

I had a 02 C4 911 cab and loved the car, I sold it and now have a Ferrari 360 spider F1 and love it. However I would love to have a 911 with paddle shifters. I herd that Porsche was going to introduce this tech. in the near future.

Does anyone have any info on this ???

would they really need the paddle shifter sequential manual gearbox now that the 997 Turbo has an automatic tranny that shifts faster than manual?

PDK (Porsche Doppel-Kopplung aka Porsche Double Clutch aka DSG) is coming for sure. I have heard it'll be in MY08 as well.

I think that need and want are not the issue. I have a F1 ferrari and drive it that way all the time. I would not have purchased the car if it was a true auto.

I tracked the car a couple of weeks ago at a FCA event in florida and it is AMAZING !!! Lots of fun with the paddles, blip blip blip

Robert - just wait until it comes out. I had a DSG car and it makes the F1 and SMG trannies look like dinosaurs. It shifts like a motorcycle - no drop in torque or revs... amazing stuff.

I don't think you'll have to suffer while "make do" in your Ferrari.

yeah, I agree with Chris, dual clutch tranny's are super smooth.... I thought motorcycles operated like the SMG style tranny...

Automatics operate totally differently than a DSG type tranny. For one thing, the soak up a lot of power! You don't get as much power to the ground with an automatic transmission.

I still prefer 3 pedals.

I like 3 pedals as well, BUT I live in south florida, tons of traffic and boring straight roads and did i mention traffic???

My porsche was a 6 speed with a cargraphic exhaust, I had a lot of fun BUT I am having as much fun with my F1 on the ferrari.

If i lived in an area of curvy roads, 3 pedals all day long !!!

Motorcycles do operate like the SMG/F1 style tranny - the feel is just like it though with DSG because there's a tiny loss of revs and power. In the motorcycle it's because of low inertia, but in the DSG the double clutch mimics it since the next gear up or down is "preloaded".
