997s Rattle
Crod - I have the same sort of rattle (I think I had two of them in the same area). My local dealer fixed the first one under warrantee, and I expect he will fix the second one free of charge when I take it back in. I previously owned a 996 which had many rattles. All were addressed under warrantee.
Back to my 997 ... the first rattle came from the chrono clock itself. The plastic cradle/cage under the wart was too loose. The dealer replaced it with a new one and wrapped it in foam. It hasn't rattled since.
I still have the second rattle which seems to be coming from under the middle of the dash. BTW, I have full leather. Do you?

Barth - no, not full leather. I think maybe I'll try pulling the Chrono to see if I can fix it myself. My dealer's service dept are absolte idiots and I would only take my car to a dealer for something major...thanks for the info re the cradle nonetheless.
That's a real bummer about your dealer - makes me really appreciate mine - Porsche of Fremont. Best of luck with the self repair. I understand you need to be very careful with the plastic cradle under the wart as it is a bit fragile. I'll report back in when I get my second rattle fix (likely in a couple of months).
I have the exact same rattle in my new 07S; it appears to be under the chrono or coming from behind the center ac vents. How does the chrono wart come off and how does the center ac vent module come out?
Thanks!
Thanks!

It may be the handbrake lever. I had a rattle that seemed to be coming from the lower dash, turned out to be the handbrake lever. Easy fix for my dealer. Also, I had a terrible rattle that seemed to come from the right front quarter at high (way above highway...) speeds. Turned out to be a fabric tag inside the right door panel that rattled/vibrated because of air venting through the door (as designed). Dealer tech removed the panel, and the tag, put back together and solved the problem.
I've got rattles in all my vents. How can I remove them?
Also, the plastic area between the shifter and the storage slip below the PCM seems to rattle, anyone else have that? If so, any suggested fixes? I'm going bonkers with all these rattles.

My dealer and I solved my rattle which seems similar to one of your rattle mystery points. The circular piece of plastic in the center storage compartment (right next to the parking break handle) was free floating and rattled during certain times. Putting a piece of tape on top of it fixed the problem.
What was strange about this rattle is that it seemed to come from the dash area but the sound was actually resonating up the PCM unit area. Hope this helps.

I had a rattle in the passenger area. For me, it turned out to be the passenger seat belt buckle. BTW, dealers must have some special device set up which would eliminate any rattles, because everytime I take the car in for a rattle, they would not be able to duplicate the rattle, so they would simply hold the car for a few days and do nothing.
