New Radar Detector

Have you guys seen this yet? It looks pretty good, I like the gps feature so it sees your speed and adjusts and it can learn false alarms.

I preordered one but I got an email saying they were backordered... I'll just wait until spring time.

I am curious to see Valantine's answer to this, probably going to be something fantastic knowing Mike V!

I agree, he'll definitely up the ante. Should be interesting.

Should be interesting, with all the tech that's come about lately, Detectors have remained stagnant with the exception of LASER and POP. I'd love to see a refreshed V1.

Hmm, After doing a direct comparison between the V1 and the Passport (I have both) I will wait for a Valentine 1 update upgrade.

I wonder why after all this time and hundreds of V1 users saying over and over how helpful the directional indicators are why that has yet to be incorporated into another detector. V1 must have a patent but there has to be more than one way to skin that cat.

But it still sits on the dash....

K40 integrated is my personal choice - just a couple of lights - aesthetics...

I mean really, when going well beyond speed limits, the benefit of radar detection is only negligible (here come the "radar saved my life stories")....cops can still nail you on sight and for stuff like reckless driving.

Try duking that one out in court... (no I was ONLY doing 110!!) HA!

IMHO the laser function is useless. As others have said it just means you're getting a ticket. Tha arrows and sensitivity are key. 110, prolly looking at license suspension.

agreed, laser is dubious, but hey, they use it in Massachusetts alot so I figured what the hell - its only a license plate frame...

I'm not sure I understand how the GPS is beneficial. Now if it had wireless internet built in, and anytime you passed a speed trap you pushed a button as a courtesy to others in the area, and that information was relayed wirelessly to all other detectors within 60 miles so that a warning was displayed if you were in that area, and you had a button to push that indicated no threat if you passed through that area and didn't see a speed trap, and the software on the website built a database allowing it to grade the threat level based on who reported it and their reliability of past reportings versus subsequent follow up from otehr drivers in the area(kinda like rep!), and then relayed the threat level back to all the other detectors based on how recent the reporting was and the credibility level of the reporter and how many had reported the same, well THEN I would get the GPS feature . . .

Hello, Mike? Anyone? Anyone? I think the courts have determined that flashing your lights to warn others of a speed trap ahead is protected free speech, so this should be too.

Arrows dont do it for me, I dont care where its coming from, if I detect it Im slowing down for a while period. (not knocking the V1, just saying arrows are not a big deal IMO).

It would be nice to shrink the size of the detectors down a bit and perhaps have real time upload / download database of known enforcement areas to give a warning as you enter the area. And make it automatic..I dont want to hit 2 buttons to record it etc.

Its rare I see radar being used nowadays (SoCal) anyways, a good laser jammer is next on my list. Cops around here have too much $$$ and they go straight for the good stuff, its also much more practical for a motorbike cop to carry around.

I think the direction of passport is right. I hate the false alarms and this should help. Also the speed sensitive feature is nice, I hope it works. I wonder how it will do in the reviews.
