Thumbs up C5 Z06 (405) v. 997S

on my way to school today, im sitting at a red light and there is a silver c5 in front of me. i was hoping it was a z06 and he would run b/c the st we were turnong on just starts and is mostly empty, although cop infested. we make the right, all of a sudden i see the rear of the z06 move over couple of feet as it struggles for traction, as soon as its pointing straight, i floor it. we go through the first 3 gears (about 110 or so), the whole time the gap stays the same , i was surprised he didnt pull away at all, 405hp and very close weight wise. we stop at the next light, side by side, i look over and see that the driver is in his 60's , i start crackin up , we roll down our windows and he says "nice car", i reply; "thank you, likewise". the light turns green.... he says "we shouldnt do it again", i was ready w/ psm off , but if i said lets go and something wouldve happened i wouldve felt like an idiot . we slowly rolled off, enjoying our (real ) sports cars.

this is what i posted on mbworld, thats why it says (real) sports cars

i dunno what to tell you

he was at least 60, im sure he had plenty of experience driving a stick, and it was from a roll so traction wasnt an issue (after i floored it)

dunno, i thought it would pull too, maybe he bought the 405hp badges (i doubt it to be honest though)

zo6

Wow, my buddy has a c5 zo6 with a few mods exhaust, filter and his cars much faster than mine. I can keep up but I know for sure that his car is faster.

I've owned and tracked both. The ZO6 is faster, straights, turns, everywhere. It is a bit more difficult car to drive, but even stock, a well driven C5 ZO6 is a very competent car. But if you ask which is more fun, the margin disappears; probably a tie for me, but it depends on how you drive and what you enjoy doing with the car. Same old story, the feel of the steering, brakes, suspension are all considerably better in the Porsche.
