Thanks to everyone for the replies. Yes, this is a inexpensive and great esthetic mod...the cost of the part (tough to get) is 45 bucks and i have a great body man here in LI for anyone interested. Unlike others, he did not remove bumper to save on the labor cost and in person it looks perfect. Thanks to Darren for posting the pix...Darren, heading down to SOBE April 2nd to close on my 2 BR condo at The Waverly, will you be down there?

Anyway just glad to see you didn't go the poser route and put the fake GT3 badge on it

the car looks really hot as is now so well done.

I was thinking about doing this too, but then I thought, why not just get the GT3?

So sorry for getting on the opposite side of this thread, modding for an individual look is one thing, but modding to look like an upgraded model is the pure definition of poseur. IMHO....

I mean it looks good, but a real GT3 looks good. I would actually recommend putting the C2 badge on it!

Ther is nothing poser about what he did, if somthing looks good then it looks good. Im sure if they had similar aftermarket style vents that looked equaly as good people would slap those on, they dont necessarily do it to imitate the upgraded version of their car.

Ok - if there is nothing poseur about putting all the GT3 cosmetics on a standard Carrera, what is your definition then?

This is from the dictionary:
poseur

One entry found for poseur. Main Entry: po·seur
Pronunciation: pO-'z&r, 'pO-z&r
Function: noun
Etymology: French, literally, poser, from poser
: a person who pretends to be what he or she is not

That Carerra ain't no GT3.... but it sure is pretending to be...

And this from a guy who's profile states he has a carrera s and added the X51..why not just get a turbo?, you should have looked up definition of hypocrit while skimming thru for poseur.. mods are very often done, as in my case, due to the fondness of certain esthetics found on different models....I.E.- GT2 WINGS,FRONT BUMPERS, or in my case gt3 air vent.probably the reason why so many of these aftermarket companies prosper. i could have afforded to buy a GT3 but liked this particular C2 and find certain mods improve its visual apperance as well as sound (fabspeed exhaust).BTW, anyone with half a brain would know this car still lacks the appearance of a GT3......As well as the window sticker...

Agreed Dr Bill.. Half the fun of doing a mod(s) is getting exactly what one wants.. regardless of cost.

Anyone who disses a personal mod has other issues!!!!

Didn't want 4 wheel drive.

My S looks like an S. Its not pretending to be a different model - particularly not an up-model. Nothing hypocritical there. In fact, I ordered it badgless.

Let me get this straight, you could've had the GT3 but bought the C2, and are expending mod effort to make it look like the GT3 you could've had? [scratch head here]

Well, ok, it doesn't look exactly like a GT3....

My only comment is that modding a base model to look very similar to a top end model is a poseur move.

Don't worry - you love it and that's what counts. Lemme know how many "less than half brainers" stop you and ask you about your GT....

Shooting from the hip? Nice.

Read his post again - he says he could've had the GT3 he is trying to make the base model resemble. Comedy.

So, how about pulling off the stock panels and sticking on F430 panels - cool mod or poseur? Yeah, I thought so....

woah fellas...........easy

Billy's car would only be poser INMO if he stuck a GT3 badge on his car....i say that b/c Porsche offerers this aerokit from the factory so it's not really like he added on anything other then the vent.

TAnythony's car is a fabulous performance machine with the x51 so how anyone call this a poser car should go look up the definition of poser b/c this isn't it my Friends!

So........can't we all just get along?

DJ -

Thanks for bringing sense to all this madness. As to your point about the factory Aerokit, I agree! Yes, I agree. You are right.

So Dr. Bill's is really a C2 with the Aerokit - not a GT3 lookalike. Got it.

But, but, but, I can't stop myself......

I have to repeat your note above, the Aerokit doesn't come with the front vent.

The Front Vent is THE distinctive GT3 identifier (and presumably ENGINEERED for the GT3), so might as well put a GT3 badge on it.

Basically that front vent IS a badge.....

Well T if I had your car in my garage it would have the factory aerokit and the GT3 front vent as well........so that would be one hell of a fun concoction, an x51 aerokit c2s with the GT3 front vent
