I am thinking about getting a hard top. Has anyone added a hard top after delivery from Porsche? Does the Hard top just fit up, or does any additional hardware or retrofit need to be done?
Thanks in advance.

I have often thought that but never tried it. I used to have a hardtop on my 996 cab and it seems like it would fit, I have a sneaky suspicion that it's the same top.

Everything looks the same, front latch points, rear latch points, windows.... No additional hardware is necessary if it does fit. All it has to do is fit and you will need the handle to turn the rear latches. Let me know as soon as you find out!
OK, here's what i found out from the dealer.
If your cab didn't come with a hard top, you need to install what they call "locks", which is what the pins at the rear of the hardtop slide into. They costs about $800, and then the hardtop and "locks"needs to be adjusted to the car, about 3-4 hours labor. Total would run around $1300-$1400, not counting the cost of the hardtop.

I had a hardtop for my 996 and did use it but found it not necessary. I don't think I would spend $3K to 4K on one.

Confirmed again at my local dealer that the 996 hardtop is the same as the 997, including the mounting hardware.
I confirmed at the dealer that my C2S Cab does not have the hardtop mounting hardware. i would have to add the hardware since it was not an original option.

check if your cab has the mounting points behind the rear seats. pop open the caps to see if you have alum mounts. mine has it bc the car came with hardtop but i don't see how it's necessary. also, having the hardtop on for a long time wrinkles the softtop.
