I'm not sure what the exact fix was, only that the OPC fixed it.
Thanks...if you happen to run across the service invoice please let me know the exact details.

500, do you service ur car at the collection? Those guys are really helpfull so I am surprised that they are not fixing your problem. Shawn Huffman is the service manager, and several of the guys from the collection log on to the forum. I think the last thing a dealer wants to get is a bad rep...good luck.

Since I now live in Palm Beach County, I bought this one from Braman but have bought from the Collection in the past. Interestingly, over on Rennlist a tech from the Collection(99Firehawk) has told me to go do five or six hard high speed stops and he said that's what they do at the Collection for this problem 99% of the time...tried it several times and as expected it did nothing. A guy on Renntech had the exact same low speed squeal on his new C4S with 500 miles and he brought it in to the Collection where they applied antisqueal paste to the pad backs...so far (its only been a few days) it's good. BTW, I also called Champion and spoke to two of their service guys which said "Porsche doesn't cover brake squeal and there's nothing we can do under warranty" . You know when you just spent $90,000.00 on a new car the last thing you want to hear is, Porsche doesn't cover it, or some do it and some don't etc etc...basically tough nuts to you Mr. Customer.

Well The Collection is quite the jog from were ur at, and champion does not really have great service. Did you speak with Danny Dimitrakis at Champion? I don't go buy what people say on the phone, and if you want to get them inspected, you don't have to say its brake noise (they might say not covered), but that they jump and sometimes fail. I don't know, just make something up to get what you want. I used to tell my girlfriend when we first hooked up I was a good listener, she has since diagnosed me with ADHD. You catch my drift...good luck.

Yes, Byron does many track days on Maui. He absolutely had to have the ceramics to reduce his lap times

Having ridden in Luis' old car with the race pads, it's pretty damn loud (much like a school bus). When you stop at a light, everyone is staring trying to figure out why such an expensive car sounds so bad

My brakes squeeled when I first got my 997TT for the first 600 miles... At about 600 miles, I did a very-hard panic-stop from ~100mph to 10mph, and after that, squeel gone. I've had similar type experiences in previous sportscars with aggresive brake pads.

Mine started at about 1200 and continues...I too tried the hard high speed stop stuff but with no luck

It probably seems unreasonable to some, but I kind of understand their position. They have to use OE pads. Being a moderately aggressive street pad, a little squeal is normal, and more than a little is not unusual. You consider the noise excessive. If you heard mine with track pads, it might change your perspective. I'm not saying you should be satisfied with it, but it's not unusual. The anti-squeal compound would probably fix it, or, a different pad, with ceramic being consistently the quietest. They are not satisfactory for aggressive use, but for typical street driving they are fine.

You asked about removing the pads. It's easy, but because of the noise dampers attached to the back of the factory pads, it takes a little time, as you have to remove the calipers to get the pads out with the dampers attached. Some folks have reported success with separating them with a putty knife or such; I couldn't do it that way. I removed the dampers and threw them away, so pad changes are quick and easy now. Plan on a couple hours. If you are going to apply some anti-squeal goop to them, I would leave off the factory noise dampers. All they do, is prevent the pad from shifting when the car changes direction, since the rotor rotation will move the pad to the opposite stop. I never hear it, but then a little squeal doesn't bother me either, so just be aware you might hear a slight noise when you begin backing out of your garage.

I'd also agree with elh0102 -- Even a little squeel can be annoying, perhaps embarassing if you are stopping in front of other people, however, I would not trade this for perfectly silent brakes that don't stop as well.
