Am I being too paranoid about my 911?
Am I being too paranoid about my 911?
My Carrera S has barely 2k miles on it. I have an appointment at Ziebart to get the Ventureshild put on it Wednesday morning.
The question is do I take the day off and sit in their waiting room for the entire day so I can keep an eye on the car or do I hand over the keys and trust them not to take any lunch-time spins around the block and go to work as usual?
They said they've done a few Ventureshields for the local Porsche dealership and a friend of mine had his truck sprayed for a bedliner. That's my only knowledge of them. They seem nice enough, but I'm just a bit worried handing the keys over to anyone.

I Understand
I too hate leaving my Porsche anywhere. That said, life is too short to be paranoid. It's just a car. I would speak with the manager and have him inspect the car with you when you drop it off. Tell him you expect to get the car back in the same condition you leave it in. Also take note of the mileage. Also think about giving the tech a tip BEFORE he starts work on it and ask him to be very careful. A small tip in advance can go a long way. Most people tip AFTER the work is done...that is the wrong time for this type of work. Ask them to call you as soon as the car is finished and pick it up right away.
Just some thoughts.

If the installer doesn't specialize on high end cars, I'd not let him do it. I've seen many crappy jobs done usually by recommendation of dealers. Dealers use large volume installers that can handle many cars at once but not necessary the best jobs.
If you are set in getting it done at place, I'd watch while they are doing it and make sure your satisfaction is guaranteed w a warranty on parts and labor (venture has a lifetime film warranty that it'll not yellow on parts only)

Go to the dealer and probably pay a little more. The dealer won't let them mess around with the car and will make sure you're happy. That's what I do.

i am ventureshield installer.
this is my suggestion.
1. ask them for referral
2. meet the installer and see if you feel comfortable. See if he is knowledgable about the product.
For me my Cayenne S was the car I showed them for work. My factory trained installation certificate and provide them with referral. Also all my work is guaranteed so the customer never really has anything to lose.
good luck, if you have any questions, let me know.
btw, i have been to dayton ohio. my friend got married to a girl who was from dayton.

damages- should not have any damage to the paint as it can be taken off and reapplied over and over. Not the original film but yes.
Thanks all for the advice.
Lil Raja, if I take the day off and sit in their waiting room is there any way I can know if they're "doing it right" or wrong? I read somewhere that using a heat gun was not the proper method.
The guy told me it would take them 6 or 7 hours so that seemed encouraging to me that they didn't plan to rush it.
Again, thanks!

On your car, the hood, bumper, headlight mirror is pretty easy application (i would say a 3 out of 5 difficulty). The bumper should take the most time.
PM me if you have more questions and I will give you my telephone to answer & expalin everything to make sure you are totally comfortable with the product. I am very sure you will be very satisfied.

I had my dealer install it for me at the time of purchase. As far as I know, most P-car dealerships reccomend/install VentureShield. Why don't you just have your local dealership do the work?
Also, you MUST make sure that they wax it when they are done. I made the mistake of not doing this and now have a semi-permanent bird **** stain on my hood which will only come out with a detail.
