Guys, this is oil level, not particle physics. The whole range, from bottom to top is something like 1-1/2 qts. If it's showing 1 or 2, add a quart. Yeah, 1! You can run these cars safely one quart low (from the maximum level) just like every other car in the realm of modern physics. What has happened here is the invasion of the digital age. You convert roughly an inch on a calculator and round off to nineteen decimal places. Car mfrs. put nice digital gauges in their cars and still drive them with inaccurate, OEM crap quality, analog sensors that can't repeat 5%. But..... everyone thinks they have 24 digit precision because of the digital dashboard. Porsche has given you 8 bars of measurement to see a range between "full" and "add". If you're worried about 1 bar of reading, stop every 42 miles and put a teaspoon of oil in it. But just remember, the top is "full", the bottom is "add".
