EVOMS Goes the extra mile (2800 miles)
EVOMS Goes the extra mile (2800 miles)
Ok so many of you know that I had the EVO supercharger installed is south Florida back in early March. Even thought it worked well at speed above 50 mph, I was having some hesitating issues between 30 and 40 mph.
EVO at their expense had my 997S TIP shipped to their headquarters in Tempe Arizona (from south Florida) where it has been for the last two weeks going through some heavy testing and driving. As it turned out, the problem was not an installation problem, as the local South Florida mechanics supercharger equipment installation was perfect (as stated by EVO when they received the car). The problem was that the new GIAC software would not load.
Apparently, the issue that came up was that my 997S had a bad ECU/DME that was preventing the GIAC tuning software from loading correctly or loading at all. Thus the Tiptronic shift timing and performance was off creating the hesitating issues. Once again, it turned out to be a bad ECU/DME that needed to be replaced.
After replacing the ECU/DME all the error codes went away. Mike and Todd at EVO asked me to come out and test drive my 997S as they put 400+ mile on and did not run into any of the hesitating issues with the new ECU/DME.
So…… yesterday I flew out to Phoenix (2800+ miles although I had shrimp for breakfast) and spent the day driving my south Florida car in the 114+ degree desert.
And ….. my supercharged 997S drove better than it ever has and was much faster off the line without any hesitation.
The bottom line is that EVO guys are extremely competent professional and stick by their work and products 100%.

I guess you can feel a little better now.
Apparently you're not the only one whose Mechanics could not get the EVO unit to work .
It seems you made the right decision to get rid of it instead of screwing around for several months and after all that having to ship the whole car to Arizona to get it fixed.

I did not get rid of my SC as some did. It had to be tuned correctly do to a bad ECU/DME. This issue could have been solved by the original installer while they worked with EVO. EVO gave them the direction to replace the ECU/DME but the original installer decided with my agreement to ship it to EVO for final testing.
These mods take time and expertise to get them tuned correctly.
Once again I am completely satisifed with the final results. Once again, I probably did not need to ship the car to Arizona and neither did the original installer, but EVO stepped up to the plate!
