Porsche has built its 100,000th unit of the current 911, known to Porsche enthusiasts and insiders as the 997. The 997 has hit the 100,000 mark faster than any of its 911 predecessors.
The 100,00th car, a Guards Red Carrera S 6-speed manual, is headed to a customer in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Porsche's Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen facility started production of the 997 in April 2004. The automaker expects to reach another milestone at the end of this month: a record 36,000 997s produced in fiscal year 2006/07.

Although I've never heard low price and 993 in the same sentence unless it included oil leak, blown motor, or needs lots of repairs.

Why would anyone want to pay anywhere from $90,000 to 150,000 for a mass produced car? Is there another another sport car in that price range with those production numbers? If your going to spend that kind of monay, at least let it be somewhat unique and special.
