Which would you choose?

I am pondering the next P-car and it's pretty much narrowed down to either a Carrera or a Cayman S. When I did the exact build I want for each (same options basically), the Carrera is $87K and the Cayman S is $75K.

Now which one would you guys go for and why? I have my own reasons why I would pick either, but I'm curious to see what you guys think.

Why not get a slightly pre-owned or demo Carrera S, the power/resale are somewhat significant no?

My fiancee and I want to do a complete build the way we want (we're going to Germany to order it all - we speak German). I would get a used one, but the chance of finding one EXACTLY the way I'd build it is slim...

As much fun as a Cayman was to toss around, I find the 911 iconic and, IMHO, worth the extra $10k.

The feel of a RWD, rear mounted flat-6 is still unique in the automotive world.

As posted above, a CPO-ed 997 C2S is another option that will get you into a Carerra S @ a cost below a new Cayman S...worth considering...

I would also choose the Carrera, but it doesn't matter what I or anyone else think... get what you two want

Well I disagree as I've driven both the Carrera, S version and the Cayman I and I would go for the Cayman S. The CaymanS brakes, power and overall balance are simply awesome. That is all I will say for now but I bet Chris could option one out that would be stunning plus any aftermarket power mods would put it over the top and challange any Carrera S on the track and walk away from a standard Carrera.

Chris, I thought you had a C2S before and traded that in for a RS4?
Does that mean you're coming back for some more P-love? =]
If you're going to buy a Pcar this time, I think you should look closely at the CaymanS. But if you really want that 911 experience (back seat on an iconic sport car), then I think the standard Carrera will satisfy your need.
I personally will buy the base Carrera as it is plenty fast for canadian road driving. of course, i'm looking closely at the 997S too. won't hurt to get more power/equipments for the extra 16k CAD. :P

you just sold your Carrera, wait for next year and see if DI, PDK and facelift are available. Otherwise get a used one.

Having just made that choice - I'd have to say that the CPO C2S was the right choice for me.

Since you just got out of a C2S - and a really nice one at that - if I were you I'd definitely think about a used Cayman S and supercharge it since they are a bit more "tossable" and all they really need is a bit more power.

I would rather get a used C2S than a new C2, so I would never see myself in that situation - but if I had to choose between the two, I'd go Cayman S. For sure.

for me, I will not get anything less than a 997/997S for my first Pcar. but since this is not your first Pcar. You will love both the boxsterS/caymanS. I'd just seen one this morning, wow is that thing pretty!!
