Well, I called Tire Rack and they seemed pretty clueless on helping me fit some 18" wheels with Pilot Sport Cups or Toyo RA1's and keep the tread width the same or greater than my stock set up. Also I wanted the same or a little more offset to give a slightly wider track. They had no clue what to do! AMAZING!

I have a 2006 997S and want to get a set of 18's wheels and tires that I can use for DE track days and AutoXing. I want to put on some Michelin Pilot Sport Cups or Toyo RA1.

My car came stock with Michelin 305/30/19 and 235/35/19 Pilot Sport II's.

You can use the Volk Racing T37 wheel, and Tire Rack sells them. You want the 18" size listed under the 997 coupe, but they will work perfectly on the 997S with 245/305 RA-1 tires.

 

Your guy might have been clueless. But Tire Rack knows everything. And more than almost everybody about tires and how they fit.

I have bought seven or eight sets of tires from them, plus sizes, everything. Trouble free.

Sounds like Damon is the guy for you.
