hi there im new to 6speed and was just wondering about lowering my car with aftermarket springs.. is there any difference with installing springs from the different companies like h & r, techart, gemballa etc. . who has the best springs and what are the differences between there springs? also when installing new springs are there any warnings or advice that i may need to watch out for? thanks 6speeders...

 

I have H&R on mine and i'm satisfied with it. TechArt springs are made by Eibach if i'm not wrong.

 

I would go H&R they are great and much cheaper then techart or gemballa.

 

I chose H&R and am very happy. Very little difference in ride quality. PASM still works great. I've not ridden in cars with the other springs.

 

I would go with H&R as well.

If you lower the car, I'd recommend doing an alignment afterwards

 

Yes, an alignment is an absolute MUST!

 

Techarts are very nice too. Not quite as low as the H&R, better in my opinion.

+2 on alignment. Destroyed a set of rear tyres in only 300 km without.

 

Now that coilovers are available, I wouldn't waste my money on springs.

 

Well thanks to 6speeders around the world I just bought the H & R setup. I would love to buy the coilovers but this is a lease car and I cant justify the spending of coilovers. I paid $299.00 on Ebay I thought that was a good deal since they retail for aroound $500.00, but how much should I expect to pay to install them and any good recomendations for the install in the l.a. area. thanks again soo much...

 

I had Gemballa and they are very unconfortable!!! Now I have Techart and I love them!!!!

 

i am satisfied with techart too, because it lowers to the same height as the -20mm option which is not available in the US.
if you want your car to look dropped you must go with the H&R or eibach though.

people always have different opinion on this all the time so here is mine.

i like all of them but then i sell them to different customers depending on what they're looking to achieve in result. there are only 2 major suppliers for springs, H&R & Eibach. if u go with H&R sourced springs (i.e Champion, CG etc. & including their own) the ride will be lower than Eibach sourced springs (i.e Techart etc. & their own). some may like the lower look and some may like the ''desired stock'' look. that also will depends on what wheel the car has & if it has bodykit etc. in terms of ride quality, some may say they're all the same but since i've driven them all i can tell u they're not. the H&R sourced springs feel bouncier (note: not choppy) than stock with a noticeable difference. Eibach branded springs feel 99% like stock if there's any difference. again, some might like & others might not so i don't need to go into detail about it. just ask urself what do u want to achieve then go from there.

 

anytime u touch suspension related job an alignment is required. u might not feel the difference in other cars but for Porsche it's extremely sensitive to that. u'll get cheaper quote without the alignment but better not cut corners like that. even if u can't feel the difference but ur tires might get wacked a lot sooner than they should.
