New tire

Ran over a key on the road and punctured the tire. Only 2K miles on it. Replaced to the tune of $600. I was told it "could" be repaired, but not recommended.

Just wanted to share.

$600!!!!! Michelin PS2's in the 305/30/19 are not that expensive. I am thinking of getting the road hazzard insurance myself.

530 for the tire, 30 for install, 40 for tax thats 600. I would love to get the road hazzard insurance.

My sympathies mass. I had 345 miles on mine when I hit a bolt. New tire and new wheel. I think you're wise to get a new tire. No reason to risk it.

Thanks guys for your sympathy. My previous car I drove 45K on its first set of tires, 70K on its first set of brakes, and no flats, no mechanical work, nothing. So it's a bit depressing to spend 234234234423 on a new car then 2 months later have to buy a new tire. I guess that's the risk you take.

body shop put a nail in my tire, had it patched from the inside.
although i have used patched tires before i didnt want to accept this as a fix if i didnt cause the damage.
argued back and forth, they said michelin approves of this, i didnt believe so i called michelin and they said there is absolutely no problem with a tire once it is patched properly.
no change in speed rating, no risks etc...
some shops may reccommend that you actually change both tires (per axle) since now you have a tire with different wear on each side.
