One of the members started a thread on his supercharged 997s lowered on Techarts. Hope MrPink doesn't mind. Caution: beautiful car!

Great question... I'm not sure. I've been researching this topic to death, which is why I have all these posts committed to memory!
It seems that the springs are very similar. It really depends how low you want to drop your car. I agree the techart springs look good, especially with the 20's.
After I started a few threads here, I noticed that most members that replied to me had the H&R springs and were happy with them. It seems to be the cheaper and easier way to get the look!

Well the good thing is that I am not planning on dropping the car till next spring when I get my wheels. For now I just want to get a muffler but even that is a pain in choosing which one to get. I want something in between loudness of the stock exhaust and the fabspeed muffler bypass pipes...suggestions?
Dave is very correct on why your stock shocks will wear out prematurely if you lower. I've read reports of this happening in as little as 3 or 5,000 miles and there are many with 10k miles on their lowered cars that report no problem... yet. Shocks will wear out, and mis-matching springs that weren't factored in when the whole suspension was designed is going to speed that process up.
When I brought my car to Farnbacher Loles for some work (control arms, alignment, SRF, etc.) I asked about suspension options for my 997S. I asked about lowering springs vs. PSS (not 9 because in PASM it's not 9-way) vs. Moton. FBL said absolutely do not use lowering springs -- just going to cause problems. The minimum modification they would have anything to do with was PSS. I'd consider FBL experts on the 997 platform and know them very well that they would not steer me away from springs just to try to sell me more.
My thought is to keep the stock setup the way it is and if I wanted to change the suspension, go with the PSS. Keep the oem parts and if you sell the car, put OEM back on and sell the PSS setup.

I getting mix infos on lowering with Techart springs. Some say that w/PASM it lowers the car 15mm (0.6") and w/o PASM it lowers it 25mm (1"), but some of the local shop insist that it lowers the car 1" with or with PASM. I would love to just have it lowered 15mm. Does someone here know how much TA springs really lowers? Thanks!
Dave
Thanks, Dave.
Guys I want to clarify something here...the stock 997 already has coilovers...the Bilstein kit is a shock and spring kit, yes it is a coilover but so is the OEM setup. The Bilstein kit is matching their lowering springs with shocks that are setup for the drop of the springs. That all being said keep in mind even with the stock springs the shocks in the 997 will probably give up the ghost after 25k miles, it won't be noticeable until you drive a new 997. If you lower the car excessively with the stock shocks you will probably accelerate this wear to the point the shocks will wear out probably at 20k miles. Dave
+100% agreed with you Dave! The problem I see here everybody said I have Eibach, H&R, Techart, RUF, Cargraphic, Champion spring "with no issues here or very happy". That because all of you guys still have less than 25K miles, let me see when you have that spring on after 25K miles. I watch this board over a year, I also notice all the old timer
(over 300 post) most of them switch from the spring to PSS/ PASM. That’s why I sold my spring & has the PSS/ PASM install. But if you guys plant to sale the car before the 20K, go for it that's the cheep way to go. My 2 cents

Question for you TY328:
I read on an earlier thread that you and another lowered 997s went to Twin Peaks in the city for the Milk Run. The guy lowered on springs was scraping, but what about your car? Did you scrape too?
