When did you guys do the first service on your 997S?
Today my tach display said that I have 28 days until my 1st service is due. I just rolled 10,500 miles and I have had the car 23 months. Yes, I said 23 months and I have not had the car serviced! It's been in 3x for other issues and each time I asked the tech if I needed an oil change and he said to wait. Now the question is do I have the oil changed based on time and wait until 20k miles for the 1st service or have the whole thing done.
Oil change now + full 20k service including oil change in 9500 miles VS full 20k service now. According to the manual...
"Minor maintenance at 20,000, 60,000, 100,000, 140,000 mls etc. If the mileage for scheduled maintenance is not reached, minor maintenance must be performed after 2, 6, 10.... years at the latest."
Minor maintenance = oil change + check fluids, hoses, bulbs, tires, wiper blades, Replace pollen filter (stupidest thing you could ever do on a cab). Sounds to me like all I need is an oil change. Not so sure I need to throw money down the drain and get the full $450 service for things I already check. Opinions?

Robert,
I am also due. I have about 8500 miles. I called the local dealer. $650. I little high. I think an oil change will suffice.

Just had mine done on Friday... 15K miles and a few weeks before the 2 year mark. It took 3 hours, but the guys at the service department are familiar with my car due to PCM issues when I first got it.
They mentioned that the car has zero issues and brakes are at 90% and tires are at 25% (pretty good considering I've used the car at auto-x).
I chose to do it before the end of this month due to a savings coupon the dealer gave me.

I change the oil every 5-7k I drive really hard and I'm in florida so we have more humidity and dust and pollen. I feel more comfortable at those intervals. I only get the oil changed and cabin filter changed when I go. I bought the oil, oil filters, and cabin filters online and just pay the labor at the dealer. normally a hundred bucks for 1 hour, which is all it should take.
Hmm good thread. I just purchased my car a week ago (used 06) and it had 12k miles on it. Now it has 13,300 on it and the service now light has been on since I got it. I am having it serviced this Friday at the dealership and am also having them put on new tires front and back. I am guessing the car needs the minor maintainence as I am pretty sure the original owner never had the car serviced. How much should I expect the oil/minor service to cost and is there anything else that I should have them check?

I never agreed for any car to wait till 15k or 20k miles to do a service. That is way too long and if you actually like to keep your car and maintain it I suggest every 5-7K miles at least. I just did my oil and it cost me 220.00. Not bad considering it was done at dealer and it makes me feel I am insuring my investment's health.
Car needs oil and needs to stay lubricated.
The realiablity issues are small and almost nil for the 997. Rattles and squeaks and some complaints here and there but they seem to be very sturdy.

I get mine changed once a year and I put on about 4000 miles a year. I get the oil and filter myself and a mechanic across the street does it for $20. Total cost is about $80. The rest of what the service guy told me sounds a little lame. Check levels, pollen filter( do I need it in 8000 miles?) check brakes, make sure there is no debris in the radiator, etc. $650 sounded high for that. He also said something about changing the brake fluid. Did anyone else get that?
