Ford Vs Dodge?? Trucks

not sure if there are any truck guys on here, but i figured there would be some bein alot of members have toys and use trucks to haul em.

i have to get a truck soon, i am starting another biz with a friend and it requires a truck. i am tossed btw the ford or the dodge. i here the new dodge diesel is great but i had a ford bf and had no problems.

i am lookin to spend under 40k, so far i have found a used 2007 Ford with about 18k miles on it and it is loaded. i also found a 07 dodge with the new cummins motor that is brand new and comes with a snow plow for about 3k less than the ford. the dodge is not loaded though it is a slt model which is about middle of the road.

here is my dilema, i know at this point most are prob like go for the dodge it is a better deal. the last truck i had i settled and didn't get the one i wanted bc it was a good deal. i kinda regret it and is prob why i got rid of it.

not sure what to do but any feedback from truck owners would be great especially anyone with the new dodge cummins engine

thanks, H

i would get the f350 and not look back! since its a work truck i would not look for a new one(high milage work truck can lose value very fast). i would look for a 7.3 ps crew cab!

yeah the 7.3 is the best diesel ford ever made. i looked at some of those but people want alot of money for an older one compared to what i can get with warranty for a couple thousand more.

thanks i am gonna look at a ford today

Dodge= great motor wrapped with nothing but crap. The interior is horrific, trans blows ***, it's a complete chitbox.

Get the F350, or a silverado HD. You need 2 or 4wd? The HD will ride nicer, F350 is bigger inside and more of a brute.

Look around, you can find a decent F350 for low $30k easy.

You can find a 7.3L F350 with low miles for the low $20k range, but be prepared, the leaf spring 4x4 rides like a covered wagon. Deaver leafs and good shocks help it immensely.

Up side, you will never ever do anything to break that truck. It's as close to indestructible as they come. If you want a 400k mile truck, find a 7.3 6 speed F350, or an older dodge, but be prepared to buy a new tranny every 90k miles like clockwork.

well i decided to go with the 07 F250 4wd i found with the 6.0 diesel. i had one bf and had no problems. this one is the Lariat outlaw so it looks pretty cool. i still have my old SCT chip from my 06 so i got some juice for it already lol. i will post up some pics when i get it.

i like the 7.3 but like mentioned the stock susp is harsh just like any pre 04 ford. it has plenty of warranty so by the time it runs out i would get rid of it.

thanks for the opinions guys

mine's not adjustable, but he could always do airbags if he wants the adjustability.

I have an 04 F-150 FX4 and love it. I've had a lot of cars but for some reason just love driving trucks the most.
