I've had some seat time in a friends SRT-8 and absolutely loved it. Visceral acceleration, felt better than any German SUV's.

Have you done some research on where prices are at today? I'm planning on scooping one up soon as a daily when my M3 goes under the knife.

Neighbor has one and regrets ever buying it. It is fast as hell but has had all sorts of problems with less than 4k miles. Also, the SRT vehicles don't come with the lifetime warranty.

I owned one for about a year. Put on headers, exhaust, software, and cai, and the thing was absolutely mean. The acceleration was addictive, and it was a blast to drive, also, I never had one issue with it. It was incredibly reliable. But I sold it and bought a Range Rover, and don't miss it one bit. The interior sucked, it got horrible fuel mileage and it would track poorly on uneven surfaces. Either way, report your thoughts on it!

I know that that the smaller Hemi is infamous for ticking at about 60k. They say it's the valves looseing up. Can be tightened down, but will be loose again in about 5k miles...

Do the bigger Hemis have the same issue? My wife is looking at getting this truck as well, but my trucks tick discourages me...

I was just about to start a thread on this vehicle. I am in the process of picking one up as a daily driver. I think they sound fantastic, and know they are fast, but other than that, i dont expect much more from this vehicle. Living in boston, where winters can be bad, i am assuming that this vehicle will track horribly in the snow? Can anyone shed light on this aspect?

I have had no issues with 22's in deep snow when I am in my house in WI.
uphills, down hills , 1-2 feet no issues.
Granted the stockers should do much better.
the interior is crap but what would you expect at this price point with the srt8 performance

For the price, nothing even comes close. I have a friend that has one, and what you see is what you get with this truck. Its boring and simple on the interior, but a straight line rocketship. The seats are comfortable, and the 08 has a better nav/audio system than the previous years. I will tell you, from a dig, there is not much that can keep up with it for 1/8 mile. My turbo would be about a car behind until about 25-30 mph......but then I gone. BUt, its a damn truck!! And its under 45K. The Cayenne TT for more than double the cost is the closest thing to a high performance all wheel drive truck.

the one i am looking at is a 07 black for around 43K. thats with mostly all the options except for the rear entertainment. they have a 08 fully loaded and that looks sweet. It comes with projectors and rear heated seats. but that is 47K and thats just a ridiculous price for a jeep. the only thing that is throwing me off about this truck is the gas mileage. i dont want to be at the pump all day. but this truck has presence. so after the test drive i will make a decision

My friend paid $43,200 out the door for a brand new 08. You should definitely be able to do that. You are only in Maryland so if you had to go to the same dealer, its only about 1 hour north of Wilmington DE.

I just picked up the Black 08 with every option, MyGig/nav, rear entertainment, back up camera and sensors and auto leveling HID's etc etc. Gas mileage sucks but this thing is freakin fast. I only drive 5-10 miles a day so its really not a issue.

The 08 interior is a big improvement, I would stay away from 06/07, it just plain nasty.

I love mine and dont regret the purchase one bit.
