Game Over Germans - 2009 CTS-V
I beleive that the design language, fit and finish, mechanicals, and even the interiors are heading in the correct direction and very quickly. Has ayone sat in a new GM truck. Very nice and may prove to be my next truck purchase. However.....as a Lexus owner, the area in which GM can not compete is the level of dealer service and image. My wife was curious as to the Tahoe and went with her girlfriend for a test drive. They decided against the test drive b/c the sales staff was so nutty! By the way, it was hat and shorts day at the Chevy store! Just imagine your typical Chevy sales person in that out fit. I cringe at the thought of owning their product and having to utlize their service department.
^Agreed. Customer service with american dealers is bad.
But GM has turned it around. They have gotten the wake up call. They are winning big time in multiple racing series, they are selling globally pretty well, and they are working on the interior and build quality if you look at their newer stuff. Not to mention the 10yr 100k warranty. This shows they are trying. Chrysler is doing lifetime drivetrain warranty. But Ford IMO is slacking.
The japaneese cars used to be looked at as just little econo **** boxes with great motors but are now at the top due to hard work and time. Give it time and I think GM is going to be back. Escpecially with cars like the volt. Toyota even is going to mimik the design now because it obviously is superior to gas/electic drivetrain. They are trying to get on the leading edge of E85 as well.
I used to hate GM but their efforts over the last few years especially, cannot go unnoticed.
As others have stated I thought the driving feel and position of the gen1 cts-v was excellent. I actually perferred it to the m5. No the interior is not as classy, but I thought it was more than liveable.
I dont think this car is a "german killer" but I do think it will run right with them. Both will have pros cand cons just like the C6Z06 and its european rivals, not so much a "killer" but definatly SERIOUS competition. It raised the bar.

I for one will take one for a spin when it comes out. However I will not buy it new as it will drop 20% in the first year of ownership.
I have to agree with this one. The steering wheel looks brutal. I love the looks of the new CTS (non V). This one looks terrible.
like the saying goes....all that smoke and no fire
the germans don't have to because there are many people out there who knows the difference between price and quality.
