spring valve replacement/follow up
2007 Z06 24K Miles.
Received my 07 z06 the other day from the dealer after having the valve spring replaced (left side top chipped). Drove the z home and heard the same knocking sound as before and immediately drove back down to the dealer. They said they would call GM for counsel as to what to do next and to leave it overnight (I was given a free loaner car /good customer service.) The next day I was informed that they need to replace all the valve springs as they may have received a faulty batch or the ones in my engine were no good (keep in mind the Z has 24,000 miles and not a single issue till now (all service performed at the dealer as well) ... I insist that I think it's the bottom end but they claime it's a 'top end problem'. Picked the car up yesterday and whaddya' think happened ? Yep same knocking sound as before. Back to the dealer I go. This time I am a bit preturbed and demand the engine be taken apart. This is where it got interesting/assinine. I was told by the shop manager to drive it anyway and wait for the sound to get worse as the engine has 100k warrenty ... WTF !?! I insisted that they put in writing that it's ok and then immediatly drove to another chevy dealer for a second opinion. They said the same thing. Drive the S _ _ T outta it they tell me till the engine malfunctions . Both dealers told me to drive the car and not to worry. Need some advice here guys. Sorry for the drawn out explanation.

I would never drive a powerfull rwd car hard with engine knocking. What if a rod or something lets loose and flies out the side of the block, dumping oil under your tires while you're beating the hell out of it going 100mph??? It's crazy for them to tell you to beat on it. I wish you were in New Jersey. I'd send you to my friend at a local dealer. He do the right thing be getting a new LS7 and dumping it in there. He has taken care of tons of warranty work on my friends highly moded Z's.
Good luck man!
