I think it would be almost double that. You have no idea how much fab work you will need to do. Like everybody has said, that is a very wide motor. It will not be a "drop in" type of thing. If you do all the work yourself, then that number would be less, a lot less. I only pay 65.00hr bench time out here in Norcal, but i get a deal because they build a few cars a year for me. Finding a good shop will be 75-85.00hr bench time. Just test fitting the motor takes a huge amout of time. They have had my motor out and back in at least 12 times for test fits when different fab work was done. How long does it take to just do that? Just food for thought.

I will say this. Once you leave Norcal you can find some great shops at much less prices. Ironworks in Bakersfield some amazing fab work and builds some amazing rides and they charge $65/hour. Prodigy Customs in Florida spits out awesome SEMA quality and magazine cars and they charge $50/hr. Some of the shops in the bay area that charge $95/hr and up are not deserving in my opinion...... which is why I sent my car to Sacramento.
But I agree with Vince... this does look to be a very difficult swap if tackled.

The shop is: Chilcote Motorsport Fabrication. in Morgan Hill. Really good guys, honest ect.. You are correct, its VERY hard to find a shop that won't ripe you off and do a good job. Still trying to find a good paint shop that does not take a year to paint a car. The last car i got painted, about 7 years ago took 9 months to paint my Boss 302 at a cost of 16k.

Take whatever budget figure you have in mind and double it. Then you might be safe.
Seriously - best of luck. It will be a cool project.
I am currently thinking about a project with a 1969 Olds 442.

Ain't that the truth.... and don't forget to double the timeframe to completion.

Trying to decide the direction of the build. Haven't decided if I am going to go with a resto-mod cruiser or get a little crazy and go g-machine with some serious ponies under the hood.

I know your pain. I have seen the thread on your build. That should be an awesome car when done. Every time my vette goes into the shop for more race goodies it is twice the time and money.

A 442 would be a sweet car to do up!
