Thanks, it has the 3.55 and the 6MT, 5th is 1:1 but it does lose some acceleration in 5th, 6th is useless for accelerating.

I was hoping to see something closer to the 11.81 of a stock Lexus IS-F.
That is good time for the IS-F. Looks like it has similar power but it apparently has an 8 speed transmission, that probably helps out! I'd like to get below 12 with mods (including driver mod ).

Looking forward to hearing your bolt-on results. Rangeracceleration.com has some good tips for quicker shifting - he is a consistent C6Z 1/4 mile record holder (stock/DRs).
Thanks for the link, I'll definitely give that a read!

Found a test by either C&D or Motortrend of the 2012 BOSS. It is rated around 30 extra hp which all comes in on the top end. The red line is also increased to I think 7500. Anyway, I was curious how my 60-130 compared to results by a magazine.

They only took the BOSS up to 120 but the 0-120 was 14.9, 0-60 4.3, so 10.6 was the 60-120. I looked at my data again, my 60-120 was 11.12.

So I was back .52 seconds, I figure at least .2-.3 of that was my sub-par shifts, the other .2-.3 makes sense with the higher power up top.

Anyway, good too see that it doesn't look like I got a dud!

Hopefully will be ordering first round of boltons this week. I also read a few things on some mustang forums that the throttle response is weakened if you have traction control and advantrac on...which I left on during my runs. I'll have to turn those off and give it another shot and see if I can't squeeze out a tenth or two.

Good comparison! btw, what is your starting speed? iirc, 45mph is usually good. I'm also curious, what speed requires a shift to 5th? What about with the 3.73 final drive?

Went back and looked, I started at 53mph. Do you think starting at 45 or lower will make a difference in inertia and produce a little better times?

I shifted too 5th at 117.8, theoretically (obviously the tire manufacturer's printed tire height isn't perfect when on the car and under load) the shift point should be ~121 with the 3.55s so I was probably a few 100 rpms early.

With the 3.73 you have to shift to 5th at ~115 again, that is the theoretically calculation. I've heard that some guys with the 3.73s are having to hit 5th at the very end of the 1/4 mile and they are only trapping 112-114.

Yes, definitely start at a lower speed. I asked about this on the 60-130 thread after watching the Supercar series on Speed TV start at 60mph in very high hp Camaro and Mustang and run lousy times (for their hp).

Try 35-40mph and see what happens, I'll be curious.

I'll give that a shot. That would be good if I could knock off another few tenths stock.

First mods are on the way, should have those on by next weekend, then hopefully I can drop into the 12s.

Starting at a lower speed is usually much more beneficial in forced induction cars, especially turbo cars as they have time to be fully spooled by the time you hit 60.

I did another bone stock run last weekend and got a 14.15 (vs the 14.05 from before) with about 8 degree higher temperature. I started the run at around 40 mph. I know the temp made some difference but looks like not much to be gained as far as inertia from starting any lower than 50ish.

My h-pipe has been sitting in my garage for almost a week! I'm waiting for my tuner which should be here any day

Hopefully they'll be on by this Saturday!

Has he started modding it yet?

I'm pretty happy so far too, and this 5.0 is only getting 1.5 mpg less dd than my G35's 3.5 did!

I got my h-pipe on and my tune loaded and wow.

Great bang for the buck for an NA car.

The advertised gains for the combo is ~40hp and I'd say that is pretty close.

My baseline stock 60-130 was 14.05 seconds with a DA of 101% (65 degree temp and low humidity at sea level).

This morning with a DA of 94.7% (81 degrees 80% humidity and 29.93 inches) I ran 13.1x seconds.

With worse air I ran ~.9 seconds faster or 6.5% faster.

With equal air I'm pretty sure all of 40hp was gained!

I love the new 5.0's, Ford nailed it with this car, drives and feel's great. You really can't beat it for the $$ for a fun daily driver. That 5.0 loves bolt on's too, responds so much better in n/a form than the 4.6
