ZL1 is faster than zo6
I do not know where you get your information from. I just spoke with my Aunt who works for Ford Racing.
BOTH the BOSS 302 and the BOSS 302 Laguna Seca were developed at laguna Seca (which is not a bad track to dial in at BTW) primarily, but also spent significant time at Inde Motorsport Ranch among others. You should look for the SPEED TV special on the development of the BOSS 302 very cool. Both cars are great at any track but the Laguna Seca stock will outshine the standard BOSS on ANY track and here is why:
The major differences in the BOSS 302 and the Laguna Seca are:
-Rear seat delete with tubular crossbrace
-A unique splitter and rear spoiler also combine to add 90 pounds of downforce at 140 mph
-A torque-sensing limited-slip differential
-R Compound Pirelli Corsa tires
-Recaro seats
-transmission scoop under the car to cool those fast-spinning gears.
Here is a good read on the two when driven side by side:

*edit*
Laguna seca also has an air duct kit for the brakes and guages that do everything from show 0-60, Qtr mile, lateral G (on the fly and very cool to see the negative g's when you lay off the throttle), etc. I have never had a more positive reception in a car than while driving the Laguna Seca around Detroit.
Impressive time from "just" the standard BOSS 302:

Good information, though.
The ring has become a "bench-racing" standard as 0-60, skidpads and 100-0 braking are. Too many variables to get crazy over a few seconds at those distances & times. No matter your opinion of the car's looks (not a fan myself), it's mere presence is a boon to all of us that love cars. We can argue times, looks and value all day long and most messageboards do that anyway. We live in the best period ever for cars that go fast, handle and stop at a reasonable cost. IMO bring them all on b/c I have no doubt they are improving the next one I get ...
I think that GM is intentionally trying to make the ZL1 be a more attractive option than the Z06.
The LS7 is a very expensive engine for them to build, whereas the LSA is essentially a LS3 with a blower on it. MUCH cheaper for them to build, no exotic materials, and doesn't have to be hand built. Similar prices + lower costs = more profits. Can't fault them for that.

I hated the new Challenger when it came out, I thought it was ugly but the new Camaro is a very successful reproduction of the classics. I guess Transformers helped it out alot too but the car is beautiful, you can't dispute that.
In 2006 when the Z06 was first tested, a standing start was used to set it's time. Since then, the automakers have been using flying starts. This equates to a 8-10 second difference in time. Also, the 2006 Z06 was using the Gen 1 Goodyear runcraps. The newest Z06 used MPSC tires, which are super sticky. Not sure what the ZL1 used, but anything is better than Gen 1 runcraps.
Regardless, the ZL1 is NOT faster than any year Z06 with any package. At the Z06 slowest, it would still be easily 15+ seconds faster than any ZL1.

Standing and flying starts make a huge difference as mentioned above. I also agree 100% that the ZL1 will not beart a Z06 on the ring. Even if the Z06 doesnt have the MPS Cups on it. I also think yellow is the best color on the Z06 by far so how can I argue with you.
65? try 54.9, and lots of presales have already been done at that price
Way I see it on my few spirited drives with my car I rarely see cars that Id consider kool ect. This new 7 second ring camaro is just another chance to run into somthing worth seeing.
Looks like a new gtr competitor to me. 7.41 and a back seat is respectable no matter what car you drive.
I personally like the looks about the same as I like the gtr. Looks pretty good. Not amazeing but defiently better than its been given credit for
