New Muscle - '12 Ram 2500HD, Cummins 6.7 Diesel

Thought I would share my new "muscle" addition to the family. Last weekend picked up a 2012 Ram 2500HD Laramie with the Cummins High Output 6.7 diesel. Fully loaded (leather, nav, DVD, etc.) Replaced the stock 17"s and put on 20" XD Addict wheels with 33" Toyo MTs.

This things is a BEAST! 800lbs of torque! I researched quite a bit, and people nearly unanimously told me that if I go the diesel route, I should get a cummins engine. Buddy of mine told me this truck would outlive me lol. The interior is also very nice for a truck (though I need to replace the crappy Alpine stereo pronto).

As for future mods, probably cold air intake and a new exhaust. The emissions stuff sucks the gas mileage and power out unfortunately, and though lots of folks remove it, I probably won't do it because I want to keep my warranty.

Still got the E63...but getting a little antsy on the car route (Aston Martin or 911 turbo will happen one day....)

Just one bad cell phone pic.

Congrats. Dodge is trying a new tranny with that motor as the old tranny was crap! I've owned both Powerstroke and Duramax diesels but never the Cummins due to the trannys in the past. My buddy has the same truck and is loving it so far.

Congrats and enjoy!

Can you get that wheel base in a dually and a wide track front axle like the Fords?

Thanks All!

The 3500 comes in the dually and not sure about the front axle.

Just added the sound system. Replaced the crappy Alpine system with JL Audio and Focal.

Love this thing (but not the gas mileage lol).

What gas mileage are you seeing? The typical 14-15?

Hence the reason I went back to an '06 Dodge Ram 3500, the pre-DPF era and 19-20 mpg.

I love the new Ram trucks, but can't justify the huge drop in fuel economy vs mine.

Good looking truck! I second the question of fuel mileage... I've got an '11 F450 and am getting 13 combined unloaded, not good...but a step up from the 9 I was getting with my 08 F450!

On the freeway I'm getting 14-15. Street, 10-11. The gas mileage absolutely sucks. I thought the E63 was bad!

With that said, the truck is very easy to mod and get very large gas mileage gains (e.g., delete emmissions and after market tuning). Since this is more of a "house truck" and not really my daily driver, I'll probably wait a bit before doing that (again, due to the warranty).

First time in many years where I hoped it snowed.
