All I can tell you that I drove a Mustang GT premium for over 2000 miles this month, and was SHOCKED with how much I enjoyed it. Was a blast.
It was a nice surprise after I had a regular V6 mustang back in 2008 for a week, and it was terrible in every way.

The new 5.0 engine is nothing short of amazing, plus I got over 20mpg highway!
All my trip I was just thinking that with a simple suspension kit from eibach or ROUSH the car would be really amazing. Especially for the price.

Definitely has raised the bar. Rather you are a Mustang fan or not, you have to respect this car based off the pure numbers & low price tag. Nobody in a $100k+ wants to get their azz kicked by a $55k STOCK car.

We are already seeing manufacters hitting jaw dropping HP numbers straight from the factory. But give it a couple of years to see the fall out from the 2013 GT500 & ZL1.. and expect 600hp cars, priced well under $100k, to become quite a normal thing thanks to these two game changers.

Agreed. The industry woke up and realized the highest 1960's muscle car HP numbers were no longer the standard (425-450) and the book on horsepower is currently being re-written. I am just glad to be around for the 2nd Muscle Car Era! SRT is bringing out a boosted 6.2L Hemi with north of 550 horse...can't wait to see final numbers on that one.

I've considered trading my barely a year old 5.0 in for one...

Definitely ridiculous bang for the buck, even compared to the 5.0

While I do like the new GT500, I'm just fine with my 500hp '05 Saleen. We'll see what the 2015 ends up looking like...otherwise the next car will be a Porsche.

For those interested in what it can do....

The car will run 11.80s all day using the launch control. It is possible to run an 11.5 in the car on stock tires if you are a good driver (and I'm not talking out of 1000 hero runs in -2000 ft DA with the track ripping your shoes off). It's also possible to get very high mph in good weather while powershifting.

*Disclaimer* My personal recommendation is that you don't attempt that latter feat. Cold narrow tires and powershifting can lead to disaster. If you want to bust low 11's, just throw on a reasonable sized DR and be done with it. The high mph is just proof that the car is a ****ing animal from a roll.
Even Smith was at the media event today at Road Atlanta....35 runs hot lapped still pulled a 11.81 at 124.5. Forgot to add this was at +2000 ft density altitude.

It takes a lot to impress here at 6speed...

11.5 @ 127 is not impressive oem stock? Keep in mind this is with the stock goodyears 285 out back. The MPH is z06 territory despite weighing 700lbs more.

This gt500 is running 8-10mph faster than the zl1 down the strip...
