I'm not a hater, but they said the few things I just did not want to hear about this new Z06. "Numb steering." "Uncommunicative chassis." I so want to love the car (I have no problem with buying American and I don't buy into the 'Vette stereotypes even if my wife does), but there's no way it'll replace my GT3 if those comments are true.
I got mixed up for a while there in buying cars because of what they were on paper, but at the end of the day I kept longing for the liveliness of my old '99 M3. The GT3 is the first car that has cured me of that. I no longer hunt classifieds for a pristine bone-stock E36.
I had hopes I could get a car that's not much more than half the money of this one and still be happy. And I'll still test drive the new Z06, and I have 3 or 4 track buddies who have ordered them, so I'll check it out at Barber too. Interesting that one of my complaints from riding in current Z06s on the track (red-hot transmission tunnel) lives on. I guess it's just physics and can't be avoided . . . nuclear-grade front-mounted engine plus rear-wheel drive.
Put me behind buddyg for a used CGT . . . maybe you do still get what you pay for.

I have one on order for a buddy in Europe. He wants me to put a few thousand miles on it before we ship it over (It's a tax thing...) If I like it, I'll get one. The chassis comments are subjective and relative, I'd like to feel it for myself. After driving an Elise and Exige, my TT feels like a "uncommunicative chassis"...
