it's a fun car but not for everyday. i missed it though. it was a 97 GTS with blue stripes. it's a simple car but not reliable in my case. almost caught on fire few times. one side skirt did get burn... btw, i felt like roast chicken when driving... so hot!

search button works great.

Yes they are comfortable.

Very very reliable, no prob going 100k miles with nothing more than oil changes.

Clutch isn't very stiff at all IMO.

I love vipers, great cars, but not for everyone. I don't feel like writing it out right now, search around and there is a ton of info on them here.

There not that bad of a daily driver,i drove 1000 miles straight when i picked it up. For a driver i would get a new Z06.

I never had any reliability issues although many said I should have driving a 94. Wouldn't use it as a daily driver personaly but I guess it depends on your comfort levels and commute. Only downside was it really was like an oven sitting there when stopped. Thats gotta suck in a coupe

Pull the cats, or at least go to a better metal substrate cat and the roasting oven issues go away. Prevents the 3rd degree burns from side sills as well.

I had an 02 GTS. It was stock for a few months and was ok to drive, but NOT anywhere near a daily driver. The a/c sucked in Houston during the summer, there aren't enough a/c vents and the quality was crap. However, on the flip side, the car was pure sex, fun to drive and just an exotic. I ended up going with an RSI TT package and the car made 1,478 rwhp. It was transformed into a BEAST at base boost with the boost controller turned off (900 rwhp with the controller off). Sooooooo, do I recommend having one? Sure, but as a secondary fun car.

HA! I'll keep that in mind for the next one! You really could cook an egg on those side sills, rediculously hot!

no doubt.. Red cars had it bad in the early Gen 2, would roast the paint to a funky yellow color right by the cats.

Don't know how many passengers in shorts/skirts would get out and end up with a burn on the inside of their right calf. Damn car not only tried to kill you, if you survived the ride, it branded you for life.

I had a 2000 GTS. Kinda depends on your daily drive (mine was only a few miles). I had high flow cats and a a Corsa exhaust which eliminated the side sill heat problem largely but did have the effect of setting off every car alarm in my parking garage and making small children cry. A/C was woefully inadequate for Miami but if you lived somewhere cooler might be less of an issue (the heater for d@mn sure works). I drove mine everyday for two years but it was in the shop a fair amount (mostly overheating problems). Also brakes on the pre-ABS cars are pure rubbish and borderline dangerous, particularly when stopping from...err....freeway-ish speeds All that said I'd do it again in a second because for the money you won't find much else that gets the same level of attention. It definitely gets noticed. It kinda spoils you from that standpoint because now I find myself in the market for a P-car and there is nothing close to the visual factor you can get in a P-car without spending a lot more money.

I have a 1999 Viper. Very reliable. Never left me stranded or problems.
Now it has a supercharger (4 years) and again no problems.
I would recommend one to anyone.
Its exceeded my expectations for a performance car.
Not much maintenance either.
