2005 Malibu Wakesetter VLX (like new)
2005 Malibu Wakesetter VLX (like new)
Practically a brand new boat, only 17 hours on it. All VLX options minus the shower, plus a few upgrades like dual batteries, turn down pipes, etc. Monsoon 340hp motor. Shoot me a PM and I'll get you all the details.
Long story short my buddy and I thought we were going to get into wakeboarding but we took up a different hobby instead and this boat needs to go. I bought it new and held on to it but we just never use it.
It is currently dry docked at Twin Coves marina on Grapevine lake. No trailer, but I will even assign the slip contract at the marina if you want it (costs about $4500 a year and was just recently renewed).
I'll also throw in all the "accessories" that I have including life jackets, anchors, a nice beginner's wakeboard, tow rope, tube for the kids, etc.
One of the best tow boats out there, great for wakeboarding, skiing, pulling your kids on the tubes, etc. Easily fits 10+ people so it's also great for just cruising around and having fun on the lake.
We've only really used the boat a handful of times, but it hasn't been just sitting. We always take it out for a quick spin every month or so to keep everything running properly. All service has been performed by Waterski America in Dallas.
This boat needs to go. Don't wait and pay spring/summer prices next year. I'm ready to deal!

My "buy it now" price without the slip is 35k. I haven't seen one for less than 40k and those are all with 50-100+ hours on them. I can assign my slip contract with one phone call for $4000 since there is a waiting list, so if you want the slip with hydraulic lift make it 38k (it was just renewed last month so it has 11 months left on it).
I will have the boat professionally detailed right before a buyer picks it up. We've had tons of spiders around here this summer (and it's even moreso of a problem at the marina since they love water) so the cover and bimini top are pretty dirty/covered with cobwebs. I will also throw in a new cover and top so the boat will be pristine.

I would highly recommend the Malibu VLX. Best boat for the money bar none, and I have ridden / driven everything that is out there. Everyone has opinions for styling / looks, but for the money it really can't be beat.
Ironically, we just sold our 2nd VLX in two years 15 minutes ago and will be ordering a 3rd for next season. If that isn't indication of how sweet these things are I don't know what is.
Mitch-- 35K is a great price!! Used trailers can be found. If you are considering, call Waterski America and ask for Tim Cvar. He is the owner and he can hook you up with a good deal on a trailer. It is also the same dealership that the boat was bought from apparently, as its the setting for the boat pictured above. PM me and I will give you his number if you are interested.
Goodluck in your sale!

Yup the boat was bought new from Waterski America and they have done all the servicing, etc. I've been looking around and you won't find another VLX like this for under 40-45K and those will all have 50-100+ hours on them. This is a deal, trust me.
To further confirm there is truth behind this statement, we just sold our 07 VLX, loaded down with over 100 hours on it for 55K. For those of you not familiar with the market, this truly is a great deal, and this coming from some one buying and selling them frequently.
Thanks for the backup Ben
Did you sell it via one of the used boat sites, or ? I'm hoping for a local buyer and a quick sale, but if I have to end up listing it on a bunch of sites which ones do you think are the best? usedboats.com and boattrader.com seem to be the most popular, is that about right? Never sold a boat before. Thanks!

Well, the first boat we owned was a Centurion Avalanche and we ended up trading it in on a 05 Wakesetter VLX. Then two years later, we listed the boat on boattrader.com. Sat for about 2 months and then a guy from Colorado needed a boat for a week in Havasu and bought it sight unseen (couldn't believe it, but met up with him in Abilene--he gave me a cashier's check and I gave him the boat.)
Ordered the 07 VLX and got it in May. Someone out at Lake Ray Roberts heard that it might be for sale. Came out yesterday to look at it on a whim and bought it.
Its actually up at Waterski America right now getting detailed. Mention Tim or Ben Terry and Tim Cvar will know who you are talking about.
Honestly, you seem to be doing everything right. You have it priced great. I would suggest taking the plunge and throwing it up on boattrader. Hopefully you sell it locally, but it never hurts to get maximum exposure. I, personally, would avoid e-bay but thats just me.
How fast are you looking to move? I might know someone who would be interested. He is local, but he would need to move his boat first. If you get a chance, shoot me a PM to let me know the time frame.
silvElise - it's dry docked at Grapevine.
Thanks for the info Ben. I actually posted an ad on the Malibu Crew website and got a bunch of inquiries in the past 24 hours or so. It'll probably be gone by this weekend. Everyone is just waiting for pictures. I got the boat detailed today and I'm going to take a bunch of pics in the AM. After that, I guess the first one to show up with the cash gets it. Just replied to your PM ...

Ok I finally got the boat cleaned up and pics uploaded. Bunch of inquiries and people coming to look at it this weekend. Hopefully it'll be gone by Monday. Thanks!
