Need Help w/997TT Order - Forum Newbie

Just joined this forum a few days ago. Proud owner of white 04 996 C4S w/black interior, sport exhaust, 6-speed, etc. which I will be selling soon. Put deposit down today for for 08 997 TT. Starting thru the option form - wow. Thinking about white w/cocoa with white stitching, ceramic brakes, painted exterior lip, intakes, etc., 6-speed. Any ideas, suggestions on what looks best w/this, what options I should add, what is not necessary? Waiting for my build date still, should know in next few weeks. Thanks for your ideas!

I might stay away from white stitchings and go with silver because white stitching gets dirty extremely fast! go with all silver accents and full leather to get most out of your deviating stitching look! painted exterior is awesome and try to stay away from extremely pricey interior options, most can be done by yourself except leather options. Good luck with the order and the wait can be painful!

i cant comment on options but probably a good idea to have silver stitching than white stitching like 6088TTS said.

If ordering stitching, be sure to order DAW as it is the only way to get the deviated stitching on the shifter and handbrake. I ordered cocoa interior with silver stitching & silver belts (January Build.) My dealer had a car with the same interior come in a few weeks ago. Unfortunately it was picked up before I was able to see it. He told me that everybody that saw it thought it was fabulous. As far as options, adaptive seats, rear axle differential lock and heated seats should be strongly considered. I think after that it is up to you as it all comes down to budget and taste.

Hummm3, why thank you! That would be great. It appeared a group of you went for a ride here in town recently. Would love to meet you all and get some help with the options for my new 997TT. Will join you for a drive too. Let me know how to email you (couldn't seem to find a link to your email address) or when you are getting together next. Thank you again. Some good tips above, thanks everyone! Keep the ideas coming.

This may be a dumb question, but what is DAW?

From the 2008 order guide: http://www.bumperplugs.com/2008%20Tu...er%20Guide.pdf

DAW Gear Lever and Handbrake Lever Aluminum/Leather
Gear lever and handbrake in leather and aluminum. Valid only
with interior to sample or when ordering deviating stitching

To repeat myself but it is very important if you want the deviated stitching to be on the shift boot and handbrake: You must order DAW. There have been many pictures on this and other forums of cars ordered without this. On the picture attached you can see the red stitching on the console, handbrake & shifter boot. Without DAW you will have red stitching on all options you have ordered with it but the regular color stitching on the shifter boot & handbrake. Many dealers have not yet figured this out yet.

I would pass on the painted front lip, this is considered a wear and tear item by Porsche, that's why it is plain black plastic. It scrapes everywhere, it will be lucky to make it past 20K miles in one piece. The Cocoa already comes with an off white/beige "deviated stitch", so it may not be necessary. just order lots off extra leather and don't waste money on CF bits, it's just laminated onto the stock plastic anyway. Seat crests and "turbo" console lid are nice touches.
You also need to consider LSD if you're going to track the car and SC as well ( didn't see it on your list). The fire extinguisher is a bargain and may be required at your home track. This is the worst part...the wait.

Thanks for the explanation of DAW - very good tip. You guys are giving me alot to think about. Fortunately I have some time to make my decisions - I am waiting for my build date, hope to hear in next week or two. How long is typical? So I have never ordered a new Porsche (although I have owned two now), and I have never had a TT, so I have a few other dumb questions! Can you please clarify what are CF bits, LSD, and SC? Regarding the stitching, my dealer said I could scotch guard light stitching to help keep it clean? Any thoughts on that? The order guide is quite large! You guys are great - I appreciate ALL opinions and ideas. Thanks - love the pictures too.

I think you need to do a search, but to help you get started CF is carbon fiber, LSD is limited slip differential, and SC refers to the Sport Chrono package.

Go to the top of the page, click on "User CP". On the left side of the new page you'll see "Private Messages" and "Send New Message". I think you can take it from there. I've sent you a private message (PM) with my e-mail address.

OOPs! I can't send you a PM. You've elected to not to accept PM's. If you wish to change this click on "User CP" at the top of this page, then "Settings and Options" on the next page, then "Edit Options" go to "Private Messaging", then check "Enable Private Messaging", scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Save Changes".

If you do change your PM election, put a post here and I'll send you my contact info.

toffeGT2 is infamous around these parts
Don't miss out the Steering column covered in leather XNS option, if you have different color interior other than Black. Also the Gear Lever Trim Leather with deviated stitching CDZ option. This will complete the look for the steer column and shifter area to match your interior. I had white sititching on my Cocoa interior. I posted some pictures couple days ago, hope give you some ideas. Now is the wait time...

CDZ not necessary for 2008. It is part of DAW. DAW in 2008 is 2007's DAD & CDZ with deviating stitching all combined into one option. If you get together with the "Washington Guys," see if Jason (Atomic80) can be part of that. He knows way more about options than most dealers.
