A set of new, GT Racing flares & rockers

 

Waiting for pics of them installed.

 

This set is for sale, I went with factory steel

 

Are the flares steel or glass?

 

GT racing fiberglass,, my green car has factory steel flares, those bad boys cost me over $3K

 

How is the mean green coming along? I always see lookers here, but no posting. Seems like Pelican Parts is where all the crusty old 914 guys hang out. Whatsthescoop?

 

The tranny is at the shop waiting its turn to be built, but the real hold up is my shop isn't finished yet so I can't work on it right now.

My dad is building a fully caged street/track car. He first put the glass flares then decided on the steel. They are expensive.

Steel flares are definitely the way to go.

They are about 1k for all 4 steel flares and got them at Autoatlanta

 

Steel flares get even more expensive when you butt weld them instead of lap welding.....but I prefer the lap welding because it leaves enough material for much easier replacement should one get crushed in.


That said, the 914 box flares work on a huge variety of other cars and I will definately pick up some fiberglass ones soon enough.

 

I avoid AA like the Clap, as one who has been playing with 914s since the 80s, I have seen way too many people (close friends, myself included) have been burned by them, just a few weeks ago I saw a car they did a lot of work on (we didn't know that did it when we were noticing all the screw ups that my buddy's shop was going to have to correct, when the owner got there, he told us he sent it there cause he didn't know any better..) really stupid stuff too, plus we knew he dropped over $10K on the work They are dishonest (cutting the Vin # out of one car and swapping into another is not legal.) and should be avoided at all cost.
