stang vs. 996

okay..kinda of a weird situation...this guy challenged my friend to a race...this guys supposedly has a 800whp 911 turbo......my friend says his car wouldnt keep up so he calls his friend who has an 8 sec mustang...the thing is this guy wants to do a top end pull...like to 180mph 190mph....would the stang even have a chance cuz i know that these cars for an 8 sec pass are geared to run that time....wut do you guys think

Forget gearing. Taking a Mustang up to 190 sounds like a death wish.

there is a lot of speculation and what ifs in this statement.

if it is an 8 sec mustang(1320) he should be pulling 150+ at the track. i would think at those speed a parachute would be mandatory, and that would lead to a street legal question?

i would guess the 800awhp porsche is hitting low 10's near 140, but would still be 1+ second behind. thats is a lot of time to make up at those speeds.

in short i dont believe this story is all that truthful specially on the mustangs part?

Something def sounds a little weird in this scenario. If this is true, what are the details of the 8 sec Mustang. Is it a street car or a race car?

thats what i was thinking..b'cuz i dont really know the driver of the stang...the race to begin with sounded pretty crazy...who really races to 190 lol...but the guy did issue the challenge...i really dont see how a 1/4 mile car is to race a top end car

if you are even thinking of racing. please take it to a legal drag racing track. don't want to see a thread: "lost a close friend racing a 800whp porsche against a 8sec drag car."

OK
1. The mustang isn't going to have a top speed of 180-90 MPH. 8's or not
2. If it is a 8 sec car he pulling 150-60's it all depends what his power adder is and his set up.
3. On the street the porsche will walk away on top end.

I have a 9sec camaro and on the street i walk away from most street cars. I've raced a couple of 997's, SC Vipers, Lambo's and Supras but the same out come from 50-140+ i'm on top but after that they pull away. Its all in the set up. But American cars are not set up for anything over 150.

You make a lot of absolute statements in this post. There are plenty of american cars that are built to go above 150. Search Cobra wolverine on streetfire for example, as he is the easiest to show you.

what about the Viper? I believe it is the standing mile champion at speeds of near 240MPH. Also, the Z06 will got 200 Mph. What about the Ford GT?

So what was that fact about american cars not going above 150MPH?

Have you ever been in a american over 150+ its just not stable.
I didn't say the could not do it.
But when your are in a lambo, porshe or 430 it feels fine.

I've been 160 in a new Z06 and it was just fine. But a mustang? Your taking your life in your hands!

Oh yeah and the stang doesn't stand a chance.
