997TT to replace 997C2S & BMW E39M5?

OK 997TT owners I need your help.

I currently have a 2006 997C2S that I love but I am longing for more horsepower. In addition, I have my beloved 2003 E39 M5 that I really don't want to sell but I already replaced with a 2006 X5 4.8is and I never drive anymore. It is simply just taking up space at this point. I am thinking about selling both and ordering a new 997TT.

Will the enjoyment I get out of a new Turbo help me forget both of these cars or will I be disapointed?

Make the change.

This past summer I had a 996 cab and an e39 M5. I sold the m5, bought a 997tt, and kept the cab. The m5 was, to that point, my favorite car ever. I wasn't driving it much as I kept to the 996, but whenever I would get back into it, I was really impressed with the power and comfort. I loved that car.

Then the 997tt arrived. The M5 was soon sold, and I really haven't thought of it since. Today I took the turbo out in 4" of new snow: performed much better than the m5 ever did. Of course, I have some Nokians on the turbo.

My wife thinks I'm going to sell the 996 next August after not driving it all season. I'm thinking I'll get a few miles on it, but my secret plan is to get her hooked on p-cars with it. She's already taking it out every weekend when she gets away from the kids.

So far, no regrets at all.

I would definitely take the 997tt over the C2S + M5, considering you already have a X5 as a daily driver.

Have you driven one? Might be a good idea to try one out.

I used to have a MINI Cooper S and a E39 M5 too. I sold both when I made the decision to get the 997TT. Although I miss my M5, I think that it was the best move I'd made. There's just no going back.

But to stay on topic, yes I would do it!

I sold my 996 GT3 for the C2S. I needed a back seat and something a little more civilized for the street.

Besides, my plan for next year is to upgrade to a 997 GT3 Cup Car for the track from my 964 so that should more than fill that need.

That would be a tough decision for me right now. I do enjoy my 997tt but I also really, really, really miss my e39 M5. For the type of driving I do (mostly commuting), it's tough to beat the combination of comfort, utility, looks and power delivery of the M5. Of course the 997 is my first turbo car and I'm still getting used to the power delivery (lag) so over time I'm sure I'll get over it. Either way, I wish that I had kept the E39.

"Simply just taking up space" I would think, with the list of cars you have, space is the least of your worries. I'd keep the M5, buy a 997TT, and sell off some of your other rolling stock, starting with those Mustangs.

Funny thing is that many of us come from an E39 M5. It is an amazing vehicle. I have a space issue and I just can't stand to just to have something sit. I was going to get another M3 Vert but have now decided to get rid of the X5 and get a Cayenne Turbo but many of my friends and people at the dealership told me to really step into a Cayenne S for my needs as I already have a 997 Turbo. Time will tell.

I would say keep the M5 if you have the space and get the 997TT

if you sell off both the 997TT will not disappoint and you will forget the M5 until you see a nice one rolling on the road I see mine from time to time and think about getting another one

No can do. I have had them forever (one of them was my first new car) and they are one of the few things I have left from my youth. As with my '87 930, I will keep them forever.

If only I could convince my wife to move so I could build a bigger garage!
