Mike R. is infamous around these parts
Safety equipment in newer cars

Now that many of the newer cars that are tracked have multiple airbags, can the typical track saftey equipment (roll bars, harnesses, 5-6 point belts, etc.) have any negative effect on the occupants in the event of a crash? (Or is it merely like wearing belt and suspenders?)
I'm curious if anyone has come across any articles on this topic.
Thanks.

Well I haven't read any specific articles, but roll bars, harnesses, and race seats are designed differently than standard 3 point belts and airbags based systems... Race type systems are designed to keep you in place with little to no movement, and airbag systems are designed for the driver to move... I don't think airbag systems will have any effect positive or negative on a properly set up cage, harness, seat, and hans systems...
