i emailed their customer service and they said without receipt or proof of payment, they will not accept return- i guess only way to know is to go to the store?

 

Their policy has changed. You need proof of purchase now.

OP: there should be a Nordstrom sticker on the label. You can use that for returns. Or, Nordstrom can also look up the credit card you used.
