Superformance GT40

Drove one about a year ago and had a ball, depsite the demo I had driven was in need of some TLC in regards to panel/door fitment. Not sure of if the gear linkage/cable is prone to stretching and needs fairly regular attention or not, but that was an issue as well. This I believe was one of their very first cars. That being said, it was an absolute time machine and I I loved it. It is very crude and that is something that I quite enjoy as sportscars now tend to be confused with GT and luxury cars, devoid of all sensory pleasure. Superformance, from what I have gleaned, is the most accurate "production" continuation. I'll pm w/ something that may be interst if you desire. All in all, th eGT40 remains my fave due to its design, performance, and best of all, its intent!
I had a Superformance Cobra. I know it's not the same but I can attest to their quality. I can tell you without a doubt they make a wonderful product. The first time I drove mine I couldn't believe how great the car drove. It's a solid car and their paint and finish is unreal. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one of their cars. I love the GT40's.
Get it. You won't regret it.
The blind spot is the only weak point but most people don't worry much; they just lean on the go-pedal some and change lanes at will!
I'd love a ride in one of those and like ct1 says, it's a time machine. My FFR has power-nothing! No AC, No power brakes, no power steering. A very tactile driving experience. But as most people will tell you, with over 400HP behind you carrying probably 2700lbs, you'll feel like a 4-wheel motorcycle in these things.

The one I drove had a speedometer that bounced around w/ no true indication and I did not care! I have no idea how fast or slow I was travelling.....only that it was majical. I will tell you, the handling was much more sure footed that I would have imagined. Very planted and confidence inspiring. When you pull the flimsy door closed you are under the impression that the thing wil be all over the place. Not so. It is a race car and as such w/ a big lump it is a little different than most anything else out there. It certianly is not rev happy and takes a bit to get used to. Just lay on the torque and smooth slow gear changes. Ahhhhh thats nice... and oh and a once and a twice....

Drove one in Nashville that Roush built. It had one of his 408 small blocks in it with a 5 speed. The car was an animal. It is nothing like driving a fast modern day car. It is visceral, like a real GT road car. I was very impressed with it. They also offer a Daytona Coupe, which is worth looking at, as well. Both cars can be had with AC. Strange perhaps, but with those tiny window openings in the GT40 and the power directly behind you, the cockpit heats up in a hurry.
The quality of the Superformance body and paint is very good, also.

there was a recent article comparing an original GT-40 a Ford GT and the Superformance GT-40 and the Superformance got the overall nod...don't think you can go wrong..but you had better like a visceral driving experience
While I have never been in one.. I have been in a superformance Cobra and that thing was flat out badass. They had a GT40 in the show room that I sat in, the quality was pretty damn good I thought.
If you are seriously considering one I can go talk to the guy here and see what he can do as far as price. I know the guy on a personal basis.

Got a copy of that article? I'd love to see it.
come to think of it...I f'ed up...it was an episode of Dream Car Garage...and of course Superformance is a sponsor...however, the test appeared to be objective...sorry..
Episode 8 - GT40’s
This week it is all GT40’s from Ford, Ford and Superformance. Peter drives an original, Tom drives a new GT and you won‘t guess which one they prefer.
