Need help configurating my new turbo!

I'm about to order this 997tt with the following specifications, any suggestions, advises about what should I drop or add? For example, should I get DAJ (Exterior package painted) or leave the front grill black?

I do not want to leave wheels in standart colour, because it doesn't really match with white, but if i get it painted white and dont get DAJ, something could feel wrong. Maybe get them painted in black?

Or Bucket seats with a carbon package vs adaptive sports seats with painted backs?

tip vs manual?

Here is what I had so far:

Carrara White
Leather interior in black
Park Assist
Exterior package painted
Side Skirts in exterior colour
Headlamp cleaning cover system painted
Electric slide/tilt sunroof
Model designation on the rear lid painted
Red Tail Lights
Tiptronic S
Sport Chrono Package Turbo
Wheels painted in exterior colour
Adaptive Sport Seats
Heated Seats
Sport seats backrest in exterior colour
Fire Extinguisher
Footrest in sports look
Three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel in smooth leather
Thicher three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel in smooth leather (i'd appreciate to any photos of that, my dealer told me that's not available)
Porsche Crest embossed on head restraints
Tiptronic S gear selector gate surround
Lid of storage bin with logo
Rear section of the centre console leather
Door entry guards in carbon, illuminated. (maybe aliminium, haven't decided yet)

Skip the tip... get a 6-speed w/ the Short Shift Kit (aka Sport Shifter)

Considering all the white you have going on (wheels, seat backs, etc), might want to consider some more painted white options for continuity, like center console (around the nav screen), etc.

Deviating red stiching on white car w/ black leather also looks very hot, consider it if price is not a big concern. If do this, make sure to add in red seat belts.

Add rear wiper (no cost option).

Don't forget rear limited slip diff.

Thicker wheel w/ multi-function is available (I forget the option codes), lots of us have it... and if you're going to get the multi-function wheel, might as well get the GSM phone module as well (that's half the reason for getting this wheel in first place).

Here's mine...

Also, Gear Lever and hand brake w/ aluminum accents is nice... here's mine...

I also ordered a white 997TT, here would be my recommendation, just my $.02.

1. NO - Exterior painted - leave the grills black too much white looks weird.

1a. Yes - Side skirts, rear apron, front lip painted - These you should definitely paint, but I'd leave it there.

2. NO - Wheel paint - you are probably going to switch the rims if you want a unique look anyway so why pay extra, plus they only paint the insides not the entire wheel, doesnt seem worth it for a white car.

3. NO - Rear center console in leather:
3b. Yes - Rear center console painted in ext. color - I got this option, I saw it on a orange 997GT3RS and it looks great, if you leave the windows untinted it creates a very nice visual when you look at the interior from the outside. It's exactly matched to the exterior paint, it just feels more raw, and inside creates a very nice accent/contrast. Especially with the painted seat backs you are already getting.

4. Yes - Instrument Surround in ext. color - This is one I havent see often, but I saw it on the same 997GT3RS and its just such a small nice touch. Its in between the tachometers and the top of the dash, so its right inside, behind the glass if I remember correctly, but it creates a very nice offset.

5. Yes - 6-speed / LSD - Its a turbo, have fun with it, I'm leaving my first auto car (SMG M5) and can't be happier to get back to manual.

6. Yes - Red Seatbelts - I personally like, and since you arent getting PCCBs it will match the brakes.

7. Yes - Illuminated Door Sills - Should be very nice at night.

8. NO - Red rear lights - I like people to see where I'm turning and red turn signals bleed into your brakes so I dont see the point. If you want a unique look consider tinting the rear regular lights, I'm gonna look into it.

9. NO - Crests in seats - I dont get this option, it was on my M3, but I never liked it because you can't see it. If it was colored I would say go for it, but just a crest pressed into the leather for all that extra $$$, I didnt go for it.

10. NO - Designation painted ext. color - I can understand this on a black car thats going for the whole shadow look, but on a white car, I think it looks bad.

11. Yes - Thicker steering wheel but standard wheel - Im not a fan of the look of the multi-function steering wheel, I think it doesnt quite have a sporty enough edge. Anything that makes the steering wheel thicker Im all for, I absolutely love the extra thickness in my M5 vs my previous M3, so I opted for it in the 997.

12. NO - Lid storage bin with turbo - I know alot of people get this and the dealers seem to push it alot, but I dont know, I think its a bit much, plus it only reads well for one person, lol.

Disclaimer: Anyway this is just my .02 on most of the options that I opted for, so no flames hehe, its just personal taste.

GossettPorsche is infamous around these parts
1) exterior grills, no. in white it is very busy. do the side skirts and rear apron, but skip the front lip. it is soooo easy to damage, and the black hides damage better.
2) Wheels in ext color, no. the white wheels will be near impossible to keep clean. I'd leave them alone, or when you get the car, have then sent out for powder coating, either the entire wheel, or the inset areas, in black.
3) rear center console in leather, yes. I like it alot. based on your spec, I'd recommend it.
4) Instrument surround: no. do leather, (unless you paint other stuff inside)
5)tip v. 6spd? I'd do a 6spd, but to each their own. if 6spd, do LSD.
6) red belts, I could go either way, based on your spec. toss up.
7)I love stainless steel Illum. door sills. they're sweetness!
8) Red Taillights: I like them better on black cars. on white, I think the std is better looking somehow.
9)Crests in the headrests: I like them. they're only like $270. get em.
10) model designation in color: no. if anything, delete it. it's no charge, and nice and clean. makes waxing easier.
11)thicker multi function wheel: yes, I've seen it. very nice. don't forget to do the Y trim in leather, that really finishes it out.
12) storage bin lid: personal pref. if you like it, get it.
13)rear wiper: only if it's a daily.
14) seats: yes to adaptive sports. white backs are nice, but on this car I'd probably do leather instead. Hussain on here has a white turbo coupe with white seatbacks. he posted pics back when he got it.

Also, I'd recommend defroster trim pkg in leather. it's a nice touch. if you do white seatbacks, then I'd consider the instrument surround, and I'd do air vents in ext. color (similar to the defrost pkg) and poss. do the rear center console as well.

Very small option and easily overlooked but don't forget to get, CDZ - gear shift trim in leather in addition to either EGA or DAD.

CDZ

Circled in red

BSM posted a picture of the DAD gear shift/e-ebrake handle above and this is EGA

I would stick with leather rear center console and the compartment cover with model logo. Looks much more elegant than painted. IMHO.

Atomic80 importanly highlights that there are 2 different alum options for the shifter/brake... so make sure you specify exact one you want if you decide for this look.

here's another shot of "DAD" option code... (note the leather rear center console, which I think you should do if decide not to paint to exterior color)...

I think the center lid in leather w/ model designation is classic (throw-back to often seen option on 993's)...

Here's the alumn foot rest (to match other pedals)... silly that this is even an option, should be std).

And this one is often debated, but I like it... the logo embossed in headrest. I used to be a hater here, but now I'm on board.

I would also strongly advise you to leave your front grille black. Having a little contrast is a good thing. Check out the pictures taken by avi8tir of his beautiful white 997TT.

Thanks for the all comments guys! I did 2 seperate configurations and will go with one of them, should decide it in a week.

The 1st one does include:

Side skirts in exterior color
Electric slide/sunroof
Headlamp cleaning cover system painted
Lower part of rear apron painted
Spoiler lip painted
Model designation on the rear lip painted(standart one in silver, if i could get it in black, i'll do it)
red tail lights (it could be easily switched if i don't like it, so i'll get it)
Park assist
Tiptronic S (its a daily drive, and we got so much traffic jam in here plus it has a better 0-100 time)
Sport Chrono
Wheels painted in exterior color (I don't like the grey color in that wheel, I'd switch those too if I don't like it)
Sport Bucket Seats
Seat Belts in Guards Red
Footrest in Sports look
Thicker three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel
Porsche Crest embossed on head restraints
Lid of storage bin with logo
Tiptronic S gear selector gate surround
Rear section of centre console leather
Interior package Carbon
Door entry guards in carbon, illumunated
Carbon package switch panel

The second one includes:

Exterior Package painted
Adaptive Sport Seats
Heated Seats
Sport seat backrest in exterior color
Door entry guards in stainless steel (not carbon)

if i'll go with it, i won't go with any of carbon.

so, which one you think? 1 vs 2? I guess the 1st one is much more sportier but the 2nd one is more elegant. It's a hard choice to make

#2 is my vote (all the stuff of #1 + #2 excluding the carbon)

FYI - looks like you're in NYC? Think twice on the painted front spoiler... chances are you tear the hell out of it on NYC driveways... I live in SF, impossible to avoid front lip damage in the city (gas stations, parking garages, etc). Always easy to swap out a new OEM black plastic one, but painted is different story.

Do the door finishers in leather, paint or carbon, depending on your final choices of overall style. Be careful with steering wheel options, some have a gray plastic part(you could always get it painted). Consider leather sun visors, A pillars & B pillars. Always nice to get rid of the plastic.

Don't get the footrest, you can get a complete aftermarket set of gas, brake, clutch & footrest that look better for less.

Yeah! Ditto that. I paid $250 for the Porsche foot rest, then covered it up with a set of Renn Sport pedals and foot rest for about the same price which look much better.

[quote=997ttguru;1660190]I'm about to order this 997tt with the following specifications, any suggestions, advises about what should I drop or add? For example, should I get DAJ (Exterior package painted) or leave the front grill black?

As you've already found out you'll get lots of advice here on what to and what not to order for your car. Everyone wants to individualize their car, which is certainly understandable. My advice would be sit down with your dealer representative and the Porsche order guide and understand each individual option, its' look and how it adds to the car. In many cases you might find that while an option seems attractive it will add little to the overall look of the car. Most, including you, won't even notice this sort of option unless it is pointed out. A leather covered fuse panel is a good example of this. I ordered a leather covered dome light, but to be honest, other than confirming it came on the car, I haven't noticed it since. My point is you can save a good deal of money if you carefully consider your options.
