Porsche 911 Turbo Facelift Almost Undisguised
<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
<!-- google_ad_section_start -->Another round of next-generation Porsche 911 Turbo photos has surfaced, this time capturing the updated autobahn-stormer in unclad winter testing. The largely unchanged, Cayman-inspired sloped nose and menacing black wheels are almost familiar to the spy cameras by now, but the snow dusting the black prototype highlights the redesigned rear bumper's exhaust outlets and air vents. The high-contrast winter pictures also give us our first good look at the new LED foglight and taillamp arrays.
The revised 911 Turbo is expected to arrive for the 2009 model year, just in time to face off against the new Nissan GT-R.

To camouflage the true look of the rear lenses, looks like the lower portions are masked and some of the lateral LEDs are not illumimnated.
What I want to know is there PDK in that cockpit!?!

The most obvious change is the taillights so I think "butt lift" is more appropriate than facelift... the front changes are so subtle. At least it'll help keep the values of the current 997TT from tanking.
I have mixed sentiment . One of the things I really liked about the 997 from day one was its traditional styling. It was almost like a welcome back to the 993 but with a more technologically advanced engine and updated interior. The 996 was just not the same.
I knew that at some point the 997 would have to evolve . I am happy to see a step forward , I welcome change but I wrestle with it too . I like the lights . I feel that a DFI engine may pose some growing pains but we'll see .
What I find hard to swallow is that the entire Porsche line up will change . Cars like the Turbo cab and Gt2 are so new that an update almost seems like a slap in the face of those buyers who paid top dollar only to face a revision even before the oil is changed . I see the journalists pledging that "2009 model year" and can't help but doubt some of what I read .
As for myself --I am pretty commited to my current car . I have considered buying a "facelifted" 997S though when my Mercedes lease is up (11 months) because I miss some things about the normally aspirated engine too . I like the idea of having both , one modern , the other more traditional --both used as street cars.
Thanks for posting the pics.
