Recommendations for New Car Detail
Recommendations for New Car Detail
So I am curious as to whether most have the dealer do their new car detail when the car arrives or did you have a private party do it? If private, did you take delivery and then just immediately take it to the detailer? I would love to hear recommendations and suggestions on this from fellow TT owners - and what products you have been happy or not happy with - especially on white.
I got mine detailed at the dealer the day of the pickup. I'm not super picky about things so my opinion isnt the best on the matter, but the car looked fantastic. My brothers looked the car up and down while I was getting the briefing and they gave it the thumbs up.
I'll probably be bringing it back there for details (mini touchups) until they let me down, then I guess I'll start seeking out a specific detailer. Hope they keep up the good work

I would say a private detailer who knows what they are doing. I detail cars and have seen some horrible jobs by the dealers. They use rotary buffers that can leave buffer swirls in your cars paint if it is not done right. Just my $0.02. Good luck!!!!
The dealership will try to hand you the keys to a car which is clean and detailed . I feel that almost any time a hand touches the car to clean it they must be very careful not to scratch a swirl mark in that shiny car .
I would wait , use soft loofas and absorbers and quality wax every three months if driven daily. Professional detailing I have done to my cars once a year.
Now there is no limit to the obsessive effort which some detailers will do but I really am impressed with this guy . It's too bad he's so expensive and far away .

The dealer did a good job on the exterior detail, however the interior was totally F'd up. Do not let them use any type of treatment on the leather, they slatherred some greasy crap on my leather that had a strong chemical ordor. It literally took me 3 months to get the smell out. I was really pissed, the first time I saw the car off the truck it had a nice new leather smell...then on delivery it was completely ruined.
Paul is REALLY good at what he does...but you're right that it is something of a gimmick. He now has his own wax coming out that will be in the thousands which is produced by SwissVax.
I dont think Im as good as Paul, but I can think of some who are close (none on this board, I dont think).

Never EVER let the dealer clean you vehicle. Just don't do it. The lowest paid employees often do the work, and not always with the same care you would give it. I took mine home covered in goo and paper and told the dealer I'd give them all 10's, just don't touch the paint. Took a weekend of sweat, but I enjoyed doing it, and the paint still looks fresh 3 years later.
