Any ideas on auto transport from FL to DC?

I am planning on shipping my car from Naples, FL to Washington, DC area this week. Anyone used any specific freight company on those routes?

I am stuck between Intercity and Passport Fedex, any recommendations on those or any other?

Thanks

Intercity is the contract shipper for PCNA.

Better yet do a Road Trip!

Although Intercity is one of the largest, I had a bad experience with them shipping a brand new BMW from Buffalo NY to Los Angeles. Worse yet, they did not acknowledge the problem without a big fight. I can not recommend them.

I saw a Passport Fedex semi at Sebring this weekend delivering some cars. They should be good.

Fedex is expensive. http://www.tasautoshipping.com/ = Instant quote. Usually 800 for open container, $1100 for closed.

i've used intercity, no problems. I think a mod might want to sticky one of these freight company threads, as they seem to pop up often, would probably be helpful to have all the info in one thread.

Just make sure everything is heavily insured, whichever freight company you use. AFAIK, intercity uses the same one driver for the entire trip, which is nice cause whoever drops off the car to the driver (assuming you drop it off directly to the freight bay) can give him a nice tip to put the extra effort in.

I went with Intercity. Called them on Monday and they are picking it up today. Jim @ Intercity was extremely helpful and professional. Do you think I should go ahead and tip the driver? $100 would work? or it is too much?

Thanks for all the tips

Most people do especially when caught up with in the excitement of a new p-car. The amount depends on you and the service. Besides the obvious (condition of car) communication and professionalism of the driver is important.

I used Exotic transport from FL to NY. The driver called me every step of the way to let me know when he would be here. He even insisted on putting my plates on even though I was prepared. I tipped $100 if I recall correctly.

I used Intercity as well when I shipped my car to Active in Miami. They did fine. The truck was totally enclosed.
